Neither can broken compasses! But answer me this, sir: does said silver watch contain any identifying marks or engravings or designs? Because such a thing is common enough that a man might mistakenly pick up one and confuse it with another. And he certainly wouldn't want to confuse an exploding one for a non-exploding one.
