Tricksy, tricksy Macses!
At the risk of being laughed at by all the computer savvy people out there, I shall relate my tale of technology woe. Attempt to install a newer operating system on my computer has failed miserably. As it turns out, my computer is nolonger amenable to actually opening and playing DVD's. As I vaguely remember, a friend suggested that this was because the dvd drive was not turning fast enough, a problem I could fix for a scant $200. And the Tiger (OS 10.4) is only available on DVD. GRRRRR.
So. I'm stuck with a computer that I cannot update because the operating system is too old, too little money for a shiny new computer, an Ipod that won't play or even turn on because my computer's ancient version of itunes does not even recognize it, and a perfectly good copy of Tiger that might solve all of the above problems if I could just get the god forsaken computer to recognize it.
My next idea is an external DVD drive. But is my computer too old and left behind to recognize one of those too? And would that be deadly complicated and just not worth it?
Comments? Suggestions. CD-format copies of Tiger?
Screw it. Maybe I should just limp along on this one until I have enough for a new something or other. But I'll only be able to afford a freakin' Dell, and pc's scare me, security wise. FOO.
