"Okay, lets go over this again..."
The cop was obviously a rookie, Remy could tell by how formal and stiff he was standing, and by the fact that the kid looked barely old enough to shave.
"I already went over it twice. Andy and Lauren are friends of mine. I wouldn't do anything to hurt her. I was trying to help him find her."
"And how exactly did you guys find her? It's awfully convenient you just happened upon the correct warehouse. There's a dozen empty buildings around here, how did you know which one she was in?"
Remy lets out an exasperated sigh as he tries to explain it again
"I told you. Logan caught her scent. Andy went online and saw the last place she used her ATM card was at the CVS Pharmacy on 58th, so we started there. Logan was able to get a scent and we followed it over this way. Took a couple hours, but we finally tracked her here."
"Right. Caught her scent. This Logan part bloodhound?"
The smirk on the cop's face disappears when Remy looks up from his seat in the back of the patrol car, and makes eye contact for the first time. He watched as the wide eyed kid clumsily rests his hand on his holster. Lazily, Remy lifts his hands up above his head.
"Hold up there. If I was gonna hurt anybody, I woulda done it already, dont'cha think? Be real dumb of me to wait until everybody showed up and then pick a fight. I aint here to start trouble. I told you, I'm here helpin a friend."
The cop's posture relaxes some, but his hand stays on his holster.
"So, you're telling me, that that guy over there..." He gestured over to Logan, who looks to be having the same kind of luck as Remy with another one of the cops. "Managed to sniff her out?"
"That's what I said aint it? How about you get me some paper and a pen an I'll write it all down for ya. You can put it in your official file an then I can go home, shower and crawl into bed wit my girlfriend, huh? I'm tired, I'm soaking wet, an I stink. So either you got somethin you can arrest me for, or ya let me go home after I write down my statement."
The rookie was nervous, and annoyed, but there really wasn't else he could do but get him paper and pen. Finally he was getting somewhere. It had only taken an hour and a half of standing out in the pouring rain, and 45 minutes of sitting in the back of a patrol car reciting what had happened over and over again. It took him ten minutes to write it all it out, and when he was finished, he handed it to the rookie.
"Can I go home now? You got the whole thing right there in your hand."
The kid looked annoyed, but there really wasn't anything he could do but let him go. They exchanged business cards as Remy walked to his car, and then finally he was on his way home.
