"I just banged the most famous woman in America," he murmurs, into her hair. "Go me."
She cranes her neck to look at him. "You banged Oprah?"
He bites his lip as he smiles. "Yes, Tina. I banged Oprah."
"You know Gayle'll fight you for her."
"I think I can take her."
"She's deceptively strong," she pauses, grimaces, "Can we never mention Oprah naked again?"
"Absolutely," he says, immediately, and when she laughs, he kisses her forehead.
She stretches, arches her back, and he doesn't pretend not to watch. "How's work?" she asks, resting her head on his shoulder, and he trails a finger up her bare back. "Like ... really?"
He smiles slightly. "Crap."
Her laugh is low, "It can't be that bad."
"Have you seen the show?" he asks, rhetorically.
"No," she deadpans, and he snorts.
"Thanks."
"Anytime," and he shakes his head at the ceiling. "You know," she says, resting her hand on his stomach, "they can't just cancel the show," he turns his head on the pillow to look at her, "they could replace you," she adds, with a click, "like that. But the show is safe. Probably."
"I haven't missed you," he tells her, solemnly.
"You're sweet." She reaches up to pinch his cheek, and he grabs her wrist; they both watch their hands as she slowly laces her fingers with his.
"Thanks for coming on the show," he says, softly, and she half-smiles - a little awkwardly, because it's been more than a decade, but his sincerity still unnerves her.
"Anything for you," she says, dryly.
"Can I have a hundred bucks?"
"No," she pretends to snap, and as he laughs, she closes her eyes. "Sleepy," she offers, as an explanation, and he nods.
"I know."
She yawns against his chest. "I talk like a three year old," she says, ruefully.
"I know," he says, again, and she snorts in laughter, her eyes still closed, his thumb gently stroking hers.
