University

Update time, now sufficiently interesting things have happened in my life. I’m living in Kingston (upon Thames, not Jamaica) where I go to university. I live in a mature student flat with three other people, who are all clean and nice. We have the biggest flat in halls, with the least amount of people. This is good in that it’s usually quiet, bad in that it can get really lonely at times. Especially when there seems to be sex noise coming from every conceivable direction. It was fairly amusing at first, the trashy freshers shagging the first person that shows interest in them. I have quite a good vantage point from my enormous window, I get to witness all the comings and goings. Anyway, yes - last night it just made me feel sad. I think I’m quite low generally at the moment, so it probably wasn’t the sex noise itself that made me sad. Yes.
So, I’m doing English Literature, no surprises there. It’s good. On the whole I have a bunch of excellent lecturers, I especially love our reading fiction guy, who you can tell loves what he’s doing. It makes a difference. I’m also doing Spanish, which is nice. Although our oral teacher is very fierce and I’m more than a little bit frightened of her.
The LGBT is a hotbed of incestuous sex and bitchiness, mainly amongst the boys. Still, it’s fairly entertaining. I missed Tuesday though, which was the AGM. Mainly because I have too much work, but I believe we now have a new president.
Reading week is the week after next. I was planning to stay here, because I have a huge amount of reading to get through, but I’m missing people. I may go home for a couple of days. My parents are currently in Spain, so - I won’t be seeing them. I think I want to see Matthew. I’ve missed him quite a bit. Well, everyone really. Although, I can’t really afford the train just for a couple of days. It may have to wait until Christmas. I’m sure I’ll survive.

Sandro and myself decided we wanted to see Children of Men last night, we accosted Carla on her way in from the gym and had a flat outing to the cinema. I really enjoyed the film. There was quite a graphic birth- they showed pretty much everything - we concluded it must have been a cgi baby. At one point it did look a bit like an alien. Still, it was a world away from the History Boys which I went to see at the weekend with Jess. That was also good. I saw the trailer for Grudge two last night. I don’t think I need bother with the actual film now. I got the gist.
My new budget requires that I live on ten pounds a week until January, when the next instalment of loan comes through. This shouldn’t be too hard. I don’t think I need to buy anymore books now. My biggest expenditure is food, and it isn’t hard to eat on a budget. Sandro gave me a two for one at Wagamamas voucher, which hopefully we can use this weekend. I bought Jess tickets for wine tasting in London, which we’re planning to do on Saturday, which should be fun. Then maybe come back to Kingston (because I have more than double the space Jess does in her room) for dinner.

Anyway. I have a seminar in about 15 minutes, so I guess I should prepare. It’s been nice talking to you.
