We lost another member of the Winter Park family. Jeff Christensen, a ski patroller here for the past 7 winters and Forest Service Ranger at Rocky Mountain National Park during the summer, apparently fell from the east face of Mount Ypsilon while out on backcountry patrol. It’s really shocking because Jeff was a very experienced mountaineer. It’s very sad at the resort right now… everyone is just stunned and it brings back memories of the loss of Sooz last year and Jack a couple years ago. It’s a powerful reminder that along with the joy of living is such a beautiful place comes ever-present danger and we all need to be careful when we’re out enjoying this mountain paradise. I just keep thinking that at lease Jeff died doing what he loved.
