VBODA is finally here!
In case you were wondering, VBODA stands for Virginia Band and Orchestra Director's Association. It's THE Virginia state marching band competition and apparently it's taken pretty seriuosly up here. You could tell....Ms. Cole seemed to be on edge all day. Anyway, call time is 12:30 and we perform at 3:30. I know we're not going to get a Superior but I think with a whole lot of luck we may be able to scrape an excellent. I want to help my section with the music as much as I can but the most important thing for me during the show is my solo. If I waste my chops on the first three songs, I won't have anything left for the moment when all eyes are on me. It's really nerve wracking but I'll just have to leave that aside for tomorrow. Anyway, I am so glad that I get to sleep in tomorrow. I can't tell you how madening it is to have so much homework at night and then for me to have to wake up at 6:15 every morining. I need a break desperately!! Oh well. I think I've gotten the scoop on everybody back down in Naples. It just feels weird after being there for Charley that another incident like Wilma hitting an area that I called home for four years isn't affecting my daily routine. I know it sounds strange but I just don't like it. I hate to dwell on the past but without remembering where I came from, I have no future. Anyway, I hope you all had an okay week off from school. I still miss you all as much as ever. Have a geat weekend.
P.S. I know Gulf Coast is going to try to come to D.C for their spring trip but my band is going to Disney for our spring trip so if everything works out like I hope it does, I could get to see you guys twice before the summer.
