2011-01-26 - Fenway Park Press Conference (93.3MB, .flv) [file link thanks to KaosOnline]
The press con is worth watching. Brian is wearing an NKOTB shirt under his Sox jersey. I think McIntyre is going to bed with his Sox jersey for a week. Donnie goes on and on about how great it is to play Fenway Park with his new friends (seriously the guy almost made me tear up when I watched it on the bus), and there is a lot of silly banter about who had to drop the extra B in the bandsmush name. FYI, Nick was on the way to Japan for his promo tour.
Also, quotes from various news sources (and from the press con), more for myself when I'll inevitably look at my nkotbsb tag for reference. :P
1. “This is a tremendous honor for us. As a group of South Boston kids we never thought we would get an opportunity like this. Our dreams are coming true,” said New Kids’ Donnie Wahlberg. “And one of the best parts is that we get to share this moment with our friends the Backstreet Boys.”
2. "We are all so grateful and excited to have this opportunity. It’s a once in a lifetime moment. And to get to experience this with our Boston friends NKOTB puts it on a whole other level."
3. Whoever wrote
this article, isn't it 'verklempt', and not 'farklempt'?
"During the dark ages of the Evil Empire before 2004, it was 2003 and I had just gotten married," Joey recalled. "After that Game 7 in New York, I was in the fetal position like all of Red Sox Nation, moaning and my wife said to me ‘You’re not on the team! You’re not a Red Sox!’ Well, honey, I’m a Boston Red Sox now!"
4. "I played baseball for 13 years as a child and I think every little boy in America on a Little League field somewhere dreams to play at this park,” Littrell said. “Little did we know we’d be singing our way here but we made it, Mom, we made it!”
5. "NKOTB was sort of our nickname and BSB was sort of theirs. And here’s the clever part - we decided to share one B!" (Me: *HEADDESK*)
6. While New Kids have played to packed stadiums all over the world, Joey Mac said it'll be a special treat to play at fabled Fenway. Is he intimidated that some of the biggest bands in the music business have played there? "A bunch of nobodies," he said with a smile. (from
