What We Did Last Weekend
Camp Sparkle in Shropshire was a HUGE success, and I left it feeling sad that everyone had to go home. It was great in the House of No Shame (with attached hottub and sparkly disco lights) with so many rooms, we really got lost in it. I'm a bit sketchy on details now, but that's mostly because I saw Daniel Radclife in Equus tonight and was only one person away from him in the aftershow crush, but yes.
Arrivals
- Met _ducks on the train (she got on a stop after me) after I suggested that she hold bananas in her hand as a way of identifying each other.
- After the stupidly long train journey, was greeted by a simply_fly_away who did a hugely impressive peepee dance after driving for about 3 hours straight and getting lost in Derby (she had to ask some builders on scaffolding while she was in a traffic jam). So we were nice people and let her drive to the Tesco's to use the loo.
- Finally arrive at the House of No Shame, only to find out that the huge Stansted contingent had run into some unexpected problems (exploding cars!)
- Everyone finally got there, and I was very amused to realise that I could already identify half the people there after years of seeing them post pictures of themselves on lj.
The House of No Shame
- had NINE bedrooms
- hottub in the back with sparkly disco lights and a CD player
- a dining room with a HUGE table that fit all 21 of us at mealtimes
- a shiny kitchen with just about everything we needed
- had three bathrooms with HUGE showers and HUGE bath/hot tubs
- three different staircases
- pool and fooseball tables
Food eaten
- really good meals catered by nopseud and pensnest, who clearly have Awesome Powers of Cooking (this included southern fried chicken, a traditional British brekkie, some awesome sheperds pies and the Death Cake of DOOM)
- Pixie Stix
- Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
- dried octopus (like the *NSYNC cuttlefish interview in Japan)
- Pixie Stix
- a lot of Haribo sweets
- Pixie Stix
- a lot("") of Coke
Footage watched
- the uncut tape of An Hour With *NSYNC (the ITV special) that had Lance insinuating that he and Justin did something dodgy with farm animals, strippers, and whipped cream
- PopOd, MSG, and The Reel *NSYNC. You have not lived until you have done shots of Pixie Stix with 20 other people in the same room during the relevant cues given by Joey on the screen
- songvids, including erilyn's Joy of Pop video (which made everyone very, very happy) and eponymous's Kiss crossover songvid
- Nick's Corner and the first episode of House of Carters, in which we came to the conclusion that Nick was Dumber Than We Thought, but still unbelievably pretty
- BSB Around the World (which made everyone go "AWWWW!"), All Access and all of the BSB videos ever made
- I managed to show the powerpoints that starafar lovingly made for me, The Joy of Crossover and Clothing Sharing/Shoutouts
- The Cartercest Movie, aka Harry and Max, which resulted in this:

interlock: *from the kitchen where she was escaping the Badness that she had already seen before* Which part is that? The hotel room or the car?

Swag Swap
- I brought 1.5kg of photocards
- simply_fly_away was kind enough to give me first dibs on the Backstreet stuff she brought
- a very nice big poster of Justin that was kind of eclipsed by the hot Patrick Dempsey one on the back of it
- *NSYNC mugs made by pensnest. I got JC, seiyaharris got Lance, _ducks got Justin, and I have no idea who took Chris and Joey, but I'm sure they're in very good homes. seiyaharris and I kept on putting our JC and Lance mugs together so that they could snuggle/kiss/nuzzle/spoon when we weren't drinking out of them, because we are SUPERCOOL PEOPLE.
Stuff we talked about
- how we got into popslash/fandom
- dead plot bunnies that just wouldn't come to life even after years of trying to write them
- religion and how Brian is a hard person to write about in fic
- how we solved the Wife Problem (nopseud: Threesomes!)
- Everyone: Why is it always snowing in fic that's set in Europe? It doesn't snow all the time!
Outside: *snows for the entire Saturday and Sunday*
Other Stuff that happened
- we wrote this. Any sort of story warning you can think of, that's the warning I'm giving to this story. We created entirely new levels of Wrong and Bad with it.
- nopseud made everyone at the kitchen table die of a mixture of horror, amusement, and hysterical laughter after writing a particular set of five words
- the Hardcore Hottubbers braved the rain and snow (!) to play *NSYNC, BSB, JC and Justin in the CD player while luxuriating in the hot tub and ingesting pink alcohol mixes, pizza, chips, and frankfurters. (seiyaharris: They're making me bring stuff to them!)
- I laughed myself hoarse on the very first day. That was how much fun and laughter was had during the weekend.

- seiyaharris, adelate and I united as Fangirls for Bassez (FINALLY OMG)
- bubbleforest and I united after spending way too much time talking to each other on MSN
- to everyone's dismay, rikes and cardalia did not look like their JuC and Nick icons respectively
- nopseud and pensnest being generally Awesome
- interlock taking suggestions for who to slash Joey with for her fanfic100
- cardalia, saba1789 and I sharing a duvet while watching footage
- saffronra and I talking about Justin's ice-skating tattoo in Alpha Dog

- iconis and her awesome Howie/JC as starving artists plot bunny

Conclusion: Best. Weekend. EVER. It was so great meeting all of you and getting to talk about Sparkly stuff without feeling judged. I have never laughed so much in my life, or had that much artificial sugar injected into my bloodstream. I love you all and OMG I MISS YOU ALL SO MUCH.
