I told my mom about the alternative spirituality group I was starting.  Her response was: 'So, you don't believe in Jesus?'  That was October 4th, and she hasn't said anything else about it since.  She's probably the one person whose approval means the most to me (I won't/can't change to gain that approval though).  i'd like to talk with her more about serious stuff like that, but... she doesn't seem to want to.  Which maybe just means she'd like to block it out, or that she needs time, or something else that's eluding me at this moment.

I read somewhere (and heard from others a lot) that our parents want us to be like them.  Maybe not exact copies, but to have the same ideas, beliefs, ethics, etc.  I guess it's nice to have children follow us and do what we do, but I don't think they can ever really break free of the mindset of 'my little girl/boy'.

So why write it down now, after almost a month?  I had to sort it out calmly.  I had to accept that she wouldn't always support my decisions.
