There's some stuff from Johnny that I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole, but those two live albums are classic, how he interacts with the crowd, and how on top of his game at that time.
"Back In Baby's Arms" is just... heavenly.

If you don't mind some more recent country, I can recommend Loretta Lynn's "Van Leer Rose" (produced by Jack White) and The Watson Twins' "Fire Songs" (had a lovely cover of Just Like Heaven) as well as their collaboration with Jenny Lewis: Rabbit Fur Coat.
