From AMC to AMC

Yay! A new feature that I am sure I won't keep up with.

"From AMC to AMC" Since I now work at the palace I get to see free movies all the time, and most times I can see them a day or two before they come out, so I figured... why not share the wealth. I'm going to try and get a review of every (or close to every) movie I go see up here at my LJ. (HA! We'll see how long this lasts!) *Shut Up, You!* Sorry... I had to berate my inner Paronioa. But as my Confidence would say, "Let's get it on."

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

Rating: 3 out of 4

The first thing you should know about FF:RotSS is that it is better then the first. On the other side of the fence, ff you didn't like the feel of the first movie though, you probably won't like the second one eithor. I guess I should preface this review with the statement that I did like the first movie, because I know a lot of people that didn't.

What I felt they got right: I liked the way Galactus was portrayed. I know, I know.. it's not comic cannon but seriously. Do you think the general crowd of movie-goers would really beleive it if Galactus looked like this? I also liked that they brought back Dr. Doom, and with the two of them, the list of villans was pretty short, unlike the most recent itteration of Spiderman.

What I felt they got wrong: It felt a little short plot-wise to me. I mean, because they only had Galactus and Doom as the villians, it felt a little like there was not much side story besides the main one. They make out the Silver Surfer to be all villany at the beginning, but it's obvious that he isn't. I would have like a bit more side-story, perhaps even a strong subplot.

Where it's going: Namor! Okay, so maybe not. But they did leave room for another sequal should they choose to make one, and other than bring Doom back (which they will), Namor is my vote for the plot of the next movie.

Final Words: Should you pay money to go see this movie? Perhaps for a matinee if you aren't superhero inclined or if you really didn't like the first one, but for all others, yes this movie is worth a cinema viewing.

Alright, that is it. Pretty meh for a first review. Hoefully I'll get better. I tried to stay away from the plot of the movie and more of my impressions... maybe next time I'll include a What it's about section. And I'll try to do the next one on the day or at least the day after I see the movie.
