Tell me who is in the wrong here, okay?
I've entered into an agreement with Ross and Noelle that I'll watch Liam (Noelle's son) a couple of days a week while they're both at work. I'll be getting paid by the state for this, as I'm qualifying as daycare.
Now, just because I'm going to be getting paid doesn't mean that I'm going to babysit Liam at their beckon call. I expect a set schedule every week. I figured that was understood.
I spoke with them last on Monday. They told me, and I quote "We may or may not need you this weekend. We'll call you and let you know."
Friday rolls around, I figure they're not going to call me. My mom called me earlier asking me to please clean up the house. For those of you that know my house, it's a messy place. I woke up around 3. Around 6, I decided I wanted a pop, so I took a trip down to the store. As I'm walking in, Ross and Noelle call me to tell me "We're in Brighton, we'll be there to pick you up after we pick up Liam."
Now at this point, I'm upset. I understand that they have jobs, that's not the problem. The problem is that they waited until they were 10 minutes from my house to tell me "Oh, by the way, we're coming to pick you up, and you better be ready in 10 minutes. Oh, and you're not going to be home until Monday."
I'm sorry, but I have a life. I'm not going to sit around not making any plans on the off chance that they're going to call me to babysit. Aside from that, I'm not going to babysit whenever they need a babysitter, because that's not what the job is. I'm only babysitting while they work on specific days. That's what the state is paying for.
I called my mom asking for advice, and I just broke down bawling my eyes out because whatever I chose to do, stay home and clean or leave the house a filthy mess, I would disappoint someone. She told me to lay down the rules.
I called them back and told them it was ridiculous that they waited until they were 10 minutes from my house to tell me they needed me for the weekend. Ross told me that Noelle said she had called me two days ago and told me she was going to be coming to get me. This is bullshit. She never called me. The last time I heard from them was Monday, which is four days ago, not two. She just said that to cover her own fucking ass.
Ross told Noelle I said she never called me, and Noelle said in a very snotty tone "It's not MY fault..." That's all I heard, I told them to screw off, and then I hung up. Ross called me back and was all mad at me, "What!? Why did you hang up!?" I told him that they could find a different babysitter because I wasn't going to stand by and get treated like shit just because they were paying me.
He offered to come over and help me clean, I told him it would still take a long time because I have to do laundry, clean three bathrooms, clean the kitchen, and the living room. I suggested that they drop Liam off over here and have Noelle pick us up tomorrow.
Noelle wouldn't have any part of that because she's mad at me.
So she is going to drive all the way back to Ann Arbor with Liam, wake him up at 5 in the morning, drop him off at her sister Poppy's house, go to work, go back out to Poppy's, come get me, then go back to Ann Arbor.
I can guarantee you she's going to blame ME for having to use so much gas too.
I'm seriously this close *holds up thumb and forefinger* to telling them both to shove it and find a new babysitter, because 300 a month isn't worth being treated like shit.
