Zelda pushes open the door to the stables to find three of her ladies-in-waiting standing beside their mounts, ready to go.
"Very nice, one moment and we'll be off." she says, walking over to Alaunus.
She puts on his saddle blanket, halter and bit, saddle, and packs her bag behind it. She climbs up and nudges him toward the grounds. The girls mount their horses as well and the four of them ride out into Castle Town, a flurry of color against the usually boring grey stone.
The youngest of the four, Mara, laughs as her horse plunges through the Southern Gate and down the path onto Hyrule Field. Alaunus, not to be outdone, struggles until he can be the leader once again. Zelda laughs and holds on as he eases into a gentle trot as they reach the other side of the field.
They wind through the path into Ordon, reaching Link's home a few minutes later.
"Wow..." One of the girls breathes. "Yeah." Another one adds.
The ladies get off and take off their horses' saddles, folding everything neatly on the ground.
Over the next few hours they set up the tent where they will be sleeping for the next two nights, and unpacked their things. Zelda took her things up to Link's house, prefering to be somewhere familiar.
After they were settled they walked into the woods and found the perfect spot for the wedding, close to the village, but still far enough away to have some privacy.
The girls set about decorating. Flowers everywhere, tendrils of ivy winding around trees, and delicate ribbons tied to a few branches.
Zelda went off on her own to work on her surprise for Link...
By the end of the day the girls were tired, and they stopped to cook some food that Mara had brough along in a large picnic basket.
"Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it." Zelda says quietly. "I just want this to be perfect..." The girls nod.
"You're going to be a beautiful bride, your highness." Gwynn says with a kind smile.
Zelda blushes and smiles. "I hope so." She looks up at the sun setting already, and gets up. "I'm going to get some sleep. We still have a lot to do tomorrow, and the men are getting here early to bring all the rest of the decorations, chairs, food..."
She nods to the ladies and climbs the ladder to Link's house, slipping out of her dress once she's inside. She pulls out her braids and curls up in his bed, burying her face in his pillow.
It smelled like him.
She sighed heavily, wrapping her arms around the pillow and quickly falling asleep, the smell of pine trees and wildflowers thick around her...
