Who: Geddoe
trueltning_fury and Wyatt
sir_lightfellowWhen: between Geddoe's talk with Salome and the incident with Yuber
Where: Wyatt's room in the manor
What: Geddoe seeks out his best friend for his help
Geddoe: *hunts out Wyatt's room on the main floor of the manor and raps impatiently on the door - he's been hunting all over but since his old friend isn't anywhere else, he must be here* Wyatt...it's me...
Wyatt: *was only napping on his bed, under the very warm sunlight that was coming through the window and enveloping the room. He gets up at Geddoe's knock and opens the door, yawning* What's up?
Geddoe: *looking rather stern* I need to talk to you. It's urgent.
Wyatt: Oh, right. *is fully awake now and opens the door wider* Come in. *pulls out a chair for Geddoe and sits back on the bed* What's wrong?
Geddoe: *slumps tiredly into the chair* I need your help, old friend. I'm doing something very stubborn and possibly dangerous, and I can't do it alone.
Wyatt: *raises an eyebrow* Hm, can't say that I'm surprised. I can't imagine you ever being not stubborn or doing anything less than dangerous. But then again ... *thinks back on the rushed and reckless way he had tried to activate his Rune before meeting his end* yeah, you're not the only one. What exactly are you planning to do?
Geddoe: *staring mostly at his knees while he gathers his thoughts and speaks them aloud* I'm trying to prepare the fighters in the castle for a confrontation with Luca Blight. He's been getting more and more chaotic, it's only a matter of time before this becomes complete mayhem.
Wyatt: *frowns deeply at the mention of Luca* You're telling me. He barged right into the women's bath and started brawling with one of the pirates. It was ridiculous. That man is out of control. *rubs his shoulder and begins cracking his neck* I agree that something needs to be done about him and I suppose that diplomacy is not going to work on that violent madman but are we really ready to start an all-out fight with him? So many people have been injured already.
Geddoe: It isn't...some kind of brawl in the bath I'm talking about. *lifts his head* I think he's the one who took Thomas.
Wyatt: *blinks and stares back at Geddoe* You do? How do you come to that conclusion?
Geddoe: He keeps repeating the same stupid lie over and over - that Roy kidnapped Thomas. I know that to be false because Roy was in my room, under my protection, when it happened. Luca may be psychotic but he wouldn't hold so unswervingly to that notion if it wasn't to deflect suspicion. *sighs and rubs his forehead* I know I have no proof but...
Wyatt: I see. *folds his arms, leaving one hand free to hold up to his chin in thought* But do people believe Luca's story? It seems to me that most people believe Roy, right?
Geddoe: Most. Not all. And there is some insistence on sticking to the rule of law - evidence, innocent until proven guilty, all that. But I'm concerned that no matter how much evidence anyone comes up with, it won't matter to Luca. All he has to do is draw his sword in response, and there we are. Locked in battle.
Wyatt: *sighs* True. But lets say we confront him about the truth. What if continues denying his role in Thomas' disappearance? What if he refuses to tell us where he is? How will we find the boy?
Geddoe: I'm waiting for him to tip his hand. He can't keep it up forever. *leans forward, toward Wyatt* I'm not making the first move. I'm only trying to get something in place as a defense, so we aren't caught off-guard the next time someone gets attacked.
Wyatt: I suppose he can't but it has been an awfully long time since Thomas went missing. He won't need to keep it up for too much longer if he ... *trails off, not wanting to complete that thought then coughs into a fist* Ah, of course. That's a good idea. No one else needs to get hurt.
Geddoe: Would it be right of me to assume that if something happens, you'll be there at my side?
Wyatt: *grins then and reaches over to clap Geddoe on the back* Yeah, of course! I couldn't let you do this alone and I do want this nonsense to end as soon as possible as well as Thomas' safe return. You can count on me.
Geddoe: *relieved sigh* That's all I really wanted. But I thought it would be fair of me to warn you what you'd be getting into, first. I'm not stupid. I know Luca is formidable. And if he wants a fight, it's going to be a bad one.
Wyatt: If he is the one putting all those people in the infirmary, I would assume he's quite formidable indeed. But he can't be any worse than Yuber, right?
Geddoe: Far worse. I spoke with Camus, a knight who fought against him before. It took a lot of firepower to take him down. And.... *looks wary* He's got a True Rune.
Wyatt: ... *slaps his forehead and sighs in exasperation* Well, damn. I couldn't take on Yuber with a True Rune. I don't even want to imagine what it will like tussling with someone far worse without one. *frowns as something occurs to him* I don't want to sound so selfish, but I hope that Chris doesn't get involved. I'm just dreading the thought ...
Geddoe: I haven't spoken with her yet. But...to be honest, Wyatt... *folds his hands in front of him, preferring to stare at them rather than look his friend in the eye* ...I would want her involved. I don't know if she has the control over True Water that you did, but I could use her help. We could do some serious damage together.
Wyatt: *leans forward with his elbows resting on his knees and his hands pressed against the sides of his head, running through his hair now and then* I know. Regardless of her experience with the Rune, she can only increase the chances of beating Luca. With each True Rune we have on our side, our chances look better. But I'll be damned if I didn't admit that I never wanted her to have the blasted Rune. My only consolation in losing the Rune and dying was that I would never have to outlive her - to see her die. I'd rather be damned than to see her die.
Geddoe: *leans forward to rest a comforting hand on his friend's shoulder* I know. I know, my friend. But with everyone working together, we won't have to see anyone die. *sighs hard* Salome seems to think this can be handled the rightful way, but I don't share his optimism. I see nothing but strife ahead. My rune practically aches for it.
Wyatt: *smiles slightly* Salome probably feels that we need to play things safe. After all, he is responsible for everyone's welfare while he is making decisions in Thomas' place. But you're right. Luca is going to ask for a fight, sooner or later.
Geddoe: I just want to be ready for anything. *gives Wyatt's shoulder a squeeze before withdrawing and sitting back* There is one more thing I need to tell you, in case something happens to me.
Wyatt: I don't blame you. *frowns and raises an eyebrow* I guess being prepared includes being a bit pessimistic at times. What is it?
Geddoe: *leans in much more closely and lowers his voice, though there's no one around to overhear* I have one of Yuber's swords. It's hidden in my quarters. If he finds out I'm keeping it, he'll come for me.
Wyatt: *raises the other eyebrow in surprise and hisses in a low voice* What? How did you get it?
Geddoe: Lyon entrusted it to me. She took them from him when she knocked him out, but when he came after them, she hid one herself and figured I'd be the best keeper for the other.
Wyatt: *blinks* Wait, what? Isn't she that girl who is very much like Cecile? She knocked out Yuber?
Geddoe: *nods* She has a True Rune, one of the runes of Falena. Apparently, it has a sleep spell on it. She's a Queen's Knight, Wyatt, don't underestimate her. Though... *looks away* ..there is a certain fragility to her. She's very sweet. I have no qualms about protecting her by taking the sword.
Wyatt: Heh, it's never a smart idea to underestimate anyone really, but it can't be helped. It's just surprising, that's all. I had no idea she had a True Rune or that she's one of those Falenan knights. *raises an eyebrow again and looks at Geddoe half-curiously, half slyly* What is it? Does she invoke some kind of fatherly feelings in you?
Geddoe: *closes his eye, looking miffed* I don't know. All these kids around here must be getting to me. But... *gives Wyatt a direct, almost disturbed look* She said something to me that reminded me so much of him. Willing to sacrifice her freedom for the sake of others. She found my weak spot, I think.
Wyatt: Ah. *nods in understanding* There hasn't quite been anyone like him since. She seems like a good kid, from the times I have spoken with her. *grins* And she gets a gold star for finding your weak spot.
Geddoe: Tch, don't go thinking it's going to happen again. I'll be protecting it well from now on. *sobers again* Yes, well. Now you know. I don't know how much longer I can keep that blade out of Yuber's hands, but...if something should befall me, anything at all, someone needs to know where it is.
Wyatt: All right. Now that I know, I swear that it's not leaving its place. I'll make sure of that.
Geddoe: It's keeping my fine vintages company. *breathes a long sigh* Ah, Wyatt. You don't know how much lighter I feel, talking to you. Conspiring with you. It's like old times. I missed that feeling.
Wyatt: Well, good. It's my job to lighten you up some. You should relax some. Even if we are planning to for some brutal fight. Even if you have a True Rune, remember that you don't bear the entire world on your shoulders. *punches Geddoe's shoulder lightly as an emphasis* You are still human and you are still mortal. Don't wear yourself thin trying to take on everything yourself.
Geddoe: I know. You're right. *sighs again* When this is all over, I think it'll be time to treat myself to some of that Kanakan wine. I can't think of a more special occasion.
Wyatt: *grins* Sounds like a good idea. You can have some cookies with it, if you like. There are plenty for all.
Geddoe: Oh good. *grins back* Sounds like a plan.
Wyatt: Hm, just in case though, I should make some more. *stands up and heads over to the door* You should go find something relaxing to do in the meantime. We're not going to war tomorrow, after all.
Geddoe: I do have a knife that needs sharpening. *rises and follows him, clapping him on the back* What in the world has become of us, Wyatt? Baking and knitting. Honestly.
Wyatt: *smirks* Hey, when you're around kids a lot, you have to pick up something to keep them happy. You, on the other hand, what's your excuse? Is the mercenary life really that dull?
Geddoe: Sometimes. It's not all fun and games. Especially when half your unit is sleeping off hangovers. *ready to follow him out the door* How about this. When you're done in the kitchen, we'll meet for a drink. Is that relaxing enough for you?
Wyatt: Hm, that's true. You have had experience babysitting after all then. *opens the door and steps out, giving room for Geddoe to as well* Sounds like a plan. I like how they make drinks here.
Geddoe: All right, then. *gives Wyatt a little salute on his way past* Until then, old friend...
Wyatt: *returns it with a grin* Aye, aye Captain. Later. *heads off to the kitchen to begin baking the cookies*
(ooc - no, Geddoe does not realize Twilight is not an actual True Rune - he's going on what info he was given!)
