Geddoe: Probably. I know a lot about that Rune on his right hand, too.
Stallion: He doesn't really tell me a lot about THAT either. I guess it's something you can't really share if you don't have one yourself.
Geddoe: Not really, no. But I hope he doesn't think he can't find support in others. He shouldn't make the same mistakes I did.
Stallion: Is it scary to have one?
Geddoe: Hm. Intimidating, sometimes. And I would imagine Hugo worries about the Rune doing what it did before...that would frighten anyone.
Stallion: The explosion?
Geddoe: *nod*
Stallion: Oh. *ears twitch a bit* I wonder if I should ask him about it? He doesn't seem inclined to tell me...
Geddoe: I can't say what he might be thinking. Or just how much of the memories of the last time he can see...Hugo wasn't there, but the Rune was. It may tell him, it may not.
Stallion: Hmmmm. I guess it can't hurt to ask. *a little smile* So you looked after Hugo, hunh?
Geddoe: You could say that. He needed someone with experience to guide him.
Stallion: He IS a little reckless.
Geddoe: And impatient. The Fire fits him, even if he isn't fully attuned to it.
Stallion: *chuckling* Yeah, that sounds like my grassrunner all right.
Geddoe: It looks to me like you've been taking good care of him. I'm glad. As time goes on, he'll find it harder to relate to mortals.
Stallion: Well, maybe it's good he's associating with elves now, because we live a lot longer than humans do.
Geddoe: That will be a big help to him. More than he knows. *sigh* I don't relish the thought of that...day. Someday.
Stallion: When the people around here will go? *sigh* I think about that too.
Geddoe: Particularly the ones I care about. I haven't been so close to so many people before...I only let runebearers close before.
Stallion: Maybe because in spite of knowing that time will separate you, you can't not be close. That's such a starved and cold existence.
Geddoe: I know. It's how I lived for a long time...but things are different, now. I know time is going to separate me from Sigurd, but I don't care anymore. I would rather have him for what time there is.
Stallion: Hugo used to call you a very aloof person, but good to have at your back. *grin* I think a few people have begun cracking into that armor of yours.
Stallion: *leer* Some REALLY into it. *laughs*
Geddoe: *unamused look* And just when I thought we were having a decent conversation.
Stallion: *sigh* We are. I'm just teasing you. Hugo would play along if I told him that. *chuckles a bit*
Geddoe: It just goes to show you...no matter how much I'm softening up, I'm still not Hugo. *taps his chest* I've had a long time to build this armor, it doesn't come down so easily.
Stallion: True. But if you have friends and loved ones who care and watch out for you, they become your armor instead, eh?
Geddoe: .....I never thought of it that way. *deep look*
Stallion: So if your armor really is that strong, Captain, it must be the quality of the company you keep.
Geddoe: I'll have to remember that. To be honest, I don't mind the changes. I made a vow to myself after the war to stop existing and start living...
Stallion: That's a good vow to have. I think anybody can fall prey to that sentiment. Life is here, might as well enjoy it. *smiles*
Geddoe: Indeed. I wasted far too much of it, I may as well start really using what I have.
Stallion: Excellent! *pause* ...you don't happen to like cheesy bread, do you?
Geddoe: *headscratch* I don't know. I like cheese, and I like bread. The two together can't be bad.
Stallion: I find that cheesy bread goes well with summing up deep philosophical discussions. *not QUITE lying, really, although he probably just wanted some and didn't mind sharing* I'll be right back! *zip!*
Stallion: *zips back* Here! I got napkins too because it's tricky for a first time.
Geddoe: *stomach growls*
Stallion: *tears him off a good chunk of it and hands it to the mercenary* Here you go!
Geddoe: *devours cheesy bread...and enjoys*
Stallion: *gnaws ferociously at the bread and ingests it quickly* Ahhhh....see? A good way to sum up a deep conversation.
Geddoe: That's pretty good. I never thought of putting cheese on bread that way before.
Stallion: *grins* I don't think anyone did before I lived here. So if you see anyone else eating cheesy bread, you can blame this elf here.
Geddoe: I have no problem with good ideas catching on. *smirk*
Stallion: So I'm glad I can really talk to you, Captain. You don't have any other deliveries of armor for me, do you?
Geddoe: I shouldn't. Things would have to get pretty bad for me to have to send my armor out like that again.
Stallion: Probably. I'm also up for more civilian deliveries should you ever need it.
Geddoe: I'll remember that. But I don't expect to need it soon. We just got back from a long journey, after all.
Stallion: All right. *inhales the last bit of bread* Well, I better get back to my rounds. *stretches* Good to talk to you, Geddoe! I'll have to do it again sometime!
Geddoe: *lazy wave*
Stallion: *zip!*
