The thing I find most sad about this isn't the initial appearance of an indictment of religion itself, but that it actually shows the results of religion gone wrong.
Toward the end the kids say that if we had no religion, "Everything would be simple", "There would be no bomb blasts", "We would be a lot more friendlier', "There would be no fights between people", "Everyone would celebrate festivals together", that people of different religions would no longer shun one another, and that "Everyone would live together and there would be no partition"...these are all things that are not only possible when people of faith are actually following the basic tenets of all major world religions, they are inevitable.
Love, compassion, forgiveness, and serving others. If one follows these foundational principles, divisiveness and fighting simply cannot exist.
Religion is not the cause of our troubles. We are. Every time we sneer at another's faith, every time we judge someone because they do not share our brand of faith, it adds to the problem. We are the ones who choose acceptance and love or rejection and hate. Religion or anti-religion is simply an excuse we often use to justify our shitty behavior.
