On the night of the election, I took a lot of photos in midtown Manhattan. Please check them out, if you are so inclined...
I'd like to maybe flesh these out with more/better text, research, and better retouching/color correction, but I also wanted to get them online before too much time had passed. This is a work in progress, so feel free to criticize or make suggestions (if you hate it you can tell me, seriously). In any event I do want to know what you think.
Anyway,
bonus/rejected images:
Kids climbing on a crane; I feel like this sort of image is really common for this sort of thing, thought it does go to show how excited people were.
TGIFriday's; it's hard to tell that there's anything going on other than a night out.
By one of the CNN monitors; this picture makes it almost seem like there weren't many people there, which was certainly not the case.
NBC tapings; the guy standing in front of me creates a weird sort of partition; I kind of like this picture but I think it's maybe too nonsensical.
A quick technical note: these photos were shot on 1600-speed film (except for the images with gray borders, which were shot on a digital camera); no flash was used to take any of these pictures (not from my camera, at least).
