Catch a Falling Star by
Kim CulbertsonMy rating:
3 of 5 stars I thought this novel overall was cute and a light and entertaining enough read. It was a bit predictable, but I wished that the character of Adam was a bit more fleshed out and developed. I felt like I didn’t know the character “enough” by the end and I thought that him and Carter really didn’t match. I would have liked this novel more if their relationship was a bit more explored further. I did enjoy the star and galaxy metaphors to Hollywood-that inclusion was really interesting.
Catch A Falling Star is about 17-year-old Carter Moon who lives in a small town called Little, California. Carter likes her small-town life; she likes normalcy and is completely content with just working in her father’s cafe. Things are about to change for Little when a Christmas movie is being filmed there starring famous teenage star and heartthrob, Adam Jakes. Known to be rebellious, Adam chooses Carter to be his pretend “girlfriend” while he’s in town to film his movie so he can get his good image back. As Carter dislikes all things Hollywood, she only accepts his offer so she can help pay for her brother’s debts because of his gambling addiction. As Carter is getting to know Adam, she has to realize if their relationship is fake…or is it becoming more? Like, something more real?
I would recommend this book to someone who likes YA romance novels. It’s a good quick read, especially during the summer or a good book to take to the beach!
