The Shinkengers and the Gedoshuu have been fighting for centuries. In present-day Japan, the seal containing the Gedoshuu has broken, and the four newest warriors in the Shinkenger line must abandon their normal lives to serve their Lord, Takeru Shiba, and defeat the Gedoshuu once more.

This isn't about them.

This is about Genta Umemori, the self-proclaimed sixth Shinkenger, ShinkenGold. Genta was childhood friends with Takeru, his father running a sushi shop. Genta would often try and play with Takeru while he was training, and also stated that he wanted to stand by his side when they were both grown up. One night, Genta decided to run away from his father to train, and when he went to say goodbye to Takeru, the young lord of the Shiba house gave him one of the Secret Disks, Ika Disk. Genta and Takeru made a pinkie promise, that once Takeru and Genta were grown and trained, Genta would return to serve Takeru as a samurai.

Years later, the five Shinkengers (Takeru (ShinkenRed) and his vassals: Ryuunosuke (ShinkenBlue), Mako (ShinkenPink), Chiaki (ShinkenGreen), and Kotoha (ShinkenYellow)) had gathered and had been fighting well against the Gedoshuu. While relaxing in the Shiba house after a false alarm, an arrow suddenly flew through the window with a message attached: "Coming Soon." While Takeru looked into a presence he felt was following him, his vassals investigated the strange message. As they looked around town, they stumbled across a sushi cart, Gold Zushi, its owner handing out fliers to advertise. Scrawled across the bottom was 'Coming Soon", in the same writing as the message attached to the arrow. The seller was cornered by the vassals, but he gave them the slip thanks to some super-spicy sushi.

The vassals split up, Ryuunosuke and Mako going to find Takeru, Chiaki and Kotoha trying to find the sushi seller. ShinkenBlue and ShinkenPink arrived to find ShinkenRed confronting the Ayakashi that had been spying on him. His magic was strong, and ShinkenPink called Chiaki and Kotoha for backup. Giving up the chase, the pair ran to their lord's aid, this time with the sushi seller following them. However, not even all five Shinkengers together were a match for the Ayakashi, and were defeated, reverting to their normal selves. It was at this point the sushi seller made his dramatic appearance, complete with exploding chopsticks.

The sushi seller then transformed into ShinkenGold, much to the shock of the Shinkengers, and took out the Nanashi (lesser soldiers) the Ayakashi summoned with blinding speed. He also battled the Ayakashi itself, destroying its first form. By the time it revived into its second, giant form, the Shinkengers had recovered going to battle in the robot Tenku-Shinkenoh. However, ShinkenGold once again assisted, using the Ika Origami to weaken the Ayakashi so the Shinkengers could defeat it. After the battle, the vassals confronted him, demanding to know who he was. However, Takeru answered this question himself, saying the name "Genta" aloud. ShinkenGold, or rather Genta Umemori, thrilled, reverted to his normal form and gave Takeru a massive tackle hug, much to the shock of Takeru's vassals.

The next day, Genta arrived (late) at the Shiba house to declare himself a samurai under Takeru. Jii (assistant to all the Shinkengers) didn't approve, and took away Genta's Sushi Changer. The Gedoshuu soon attacked again, and Takeru broke his friend's heart by refusing to accept him as a samurai. After they nearly lost to the Ayakashi, the vassals (and Genta) all confronted Takeru about his refusal to accept Genta as an ally. Their arguments made Takeru remember the promise he made with Genta, and he gave Genta back his Sushi Changer, accepting him as the sixth Shinkenger. All six Shinkengers entered the fight, the vassals fighting the Nanashi while ShinkenRed and ShinkenGold combined their signature moves to destroy the Ayakashi's first form. The second, giant form was once again defeated, thanks to the Origami combining to form Ika-Shinkenoh. Afterward, they all celebrated Genta's inclusion by eating at the Gold Zushi cart.

The next time the Shinkengers met, Genta introduced to them a lobster Origami he created. It turned out that Genta's Mojikara (or 'character power') was unique, he being one of the few who could create Origami. This talent was especially unique due to his mastery over electronic Mojikara; while the other Shikengers used brushes, Genta was bad with kanji, using his Sushi Changer/cell phone instead. Ryuunosuke praised him for his creation, but also called him 'a better craftsman than a samurai', causing them to fight. Wanting Ryuunosuke to accept him, Genta disguised himself as one of the faceless servants of the Shiba house and followed Ryuunosuke around, hoping to learn to be more like him. He's discovered when they both rush to the aid of some girls kidnapped by an Ayakashi. The pair settled their differences as they battled, and the Ayakashi's first form was destroyed in a joint attack by ShinkenBlue and ShinkenGold (his second being destroyed by Ika-Shinkenoh). Later, the gang again is at the Gold Zushi cart, with Ryuunosuke arguing with Genta. Genta named the lobster Origami "Ebizou", a legendary name in Kabuki theater, and causing Ryuunosuke to think of it as an insult.

A few days later, on Kotoha's birthday, Takeru and the other vassals set up a surprise party for Kotoha, while Genta sensed that Ebizou was close to being ready to be mobilized. Party preparations were interrupted by a new Ayakashi attack, the enemy devouring people's souls. Genta was late to the battle, and by the time he arrived, Kotoha's soul had been stolen by the Ayakashi, leaving her comatose and with only a day left to live. The Ayakashi was battled by the male Shinkengers, but escaped. Despite Kotoha regaining consciousness and accepting her death, the Shinkengers remained dismayed; they even considered giving up their humanity so they could enter the Sanzu River, where the Gedoshuu resided, to destroy the Ayakashi and save everyone's souls. However, Genta thought up an alternate plan. In the battle with the Ayakashi, Genta had managed to carve the character "Ebi" into its side with his sword. Genta explained that if they combined their Mojikara to fully activate Ebizou, it would forcefully drag the Ayakashi out from the Sanzu River. Genta's plan worked, and the Shinkengers destroy the Ayakashi's first form, ShinkenGold piloting the complete Ebi Origami (who became Daikaioh) and destroyed the Ayakashi's second form, freeing everyone's souls in the nick of time. Kotoha was saved, and her birthday party went off without a hitch that evening.

Over time, the Gedoshuu grow stronger, and Jii eventually told the Shinkengers they needed the Inromaru of the Shiba family to counter the growing threat. The visit to the Tengen Temple, where the Inromaru is located and houses the burial grounds of the Shiba house, was mostly peaceful till the Shinkengers had tea. Takeru was suddenly poisoned, and the vassals were overpowered by an exceptionally strong Ayakashi. Takeru was kidnapped, leaving Genta as the last Shinkenger standing, the other vassals all horribly injured. It was up to Genta to use Mojikara to complete the Inromaru. Though it made him weak, he completed it just in time for the other Shinkengers to recover from their injuries. They gave Genta their disks, allowing Genta to complete the Super Disk for Takeru. Genta promised to bring Takeru back, and give him the finished Inromaru. True to his word, after Genta completed the device, he transformed to ShinkenGold and, thanks to information from a Kuroku, learned where Takeru was. He was in the company of a Gedonin named Juzo, and healed of the poison. ShinkenGold took him to the battle, just in time to save the Shinkengers. ShinkenRed used the Inromaru to become Hyper ShinkenRed, and soon the tough enemies were defeated.

Shortly after this, Genta gained a fear of sushi; thanks to an Ayakashi, he was transformed into sushi and almost eaten by a cat. Due to this, he couldn't transform or even run his business. Jii "helped" him overcome his fear - by force feeding him sushi. It ceased to be a problem after that. He also tried to expand his business by serving curry, and it became quite popular. However, when the curry attracted the attention of a businessman, who wanted him to open a restaurant and serve only curry, Genta declined. His passion had always been for sushi, and he didn't want to change that for anything, even if that meant losing his new-found customers.

One day, the Shinkenger team was rattled. A new ShinkenRed suddenly appeared, a female named Kaoru Shiba. She declared herself the true eighteenth head of the Shiba family. Takeru was just an individual with great Mojikara, brought in to be a kagemusha, or shadow, for the true head. Kaoru had been whisked away into hiding years ago, since she was the only one with knowledge on how to seal the Gedoshuu. Now, she had returned to take her rightful place as ShinkenRed. Takeru apologized to his vassals, telling them to please obey Kaoru before leaving. Genta was vocal in his displeasure about this turn of events and left the Shinkengers, not wanting to serve anyone but Takeru.

It is at this point Edensphere pulls him in.
