[Oneshot] Taking Care of Shiro - Request #2
Title: Taking Care of Shiro
Pairing: KyuMin
Summary: Wanting to make his favorite hyung happy, Kyuhyun buys Sungmin a new pet; a baby bunny. Of course, being the first time either of them has had a pet bunny, they help each other learn how to take care of the small bunny.

Step 1. Naming the Bunny
"I say we call him Max."
Sungmin raises an incredulous eyebrow and looks up to the male seated next to him. "Max?" He dryly states. He rolls his eyes when Kyuhyun shrugs and gives him the 'I-think-it's-a-good-name' look. Sungmin shakes his head and frowns. "It sounds like a dogs name."
Kyuhyun sighs, "Well, I don't know. You think of one then."
Sungmin purses his lips and stares at the sleeping ball of white in his hands. "Mr. Snow?"
A snort.
"What?" Sungmin says, pouting. "I think it's cute!"
"Too cliche don't you think?" Kyuhyun says. "A white rabbit named Mr.Snow? Be more imaginative hyung."
"Snow White?"
A pointed look.
"White-chan?"
A roll of the eyes.
"...."
"Don't hurt yourself." Kyuhyun teases, yelping when Sungmin pinches him.
The elder's shoulder droop in defeat. "I'm lost, I don't know." He looks to Kyuhyun. "How did Yesung-hyung come up with ddangkkoma's name?"
"Do you really want to know?" Kyuhyun asks.
Sungmin blinks twice before shaking his head slowly. "On the second thought.... never mind." Neither of them were interested on asking their residential extreme-4D member about anything. One simple question can have the result of a 3-hour long answer; that's how much the man speaks and elaborates on the topic at hand.
"How about... Shiro?" Kyuhyun suggests, "since you insist on having the word 'white' in his name."
Sungmin looks up with wide eyes. "What does Shiro mean?"
Kyuhyun gapes and repeatedly pokes his hyung in the stomach. "Weren't you the one who taught me, and half the members of Super Junior, the language? Weren't you the one who taught Leeteuk the word when he repeatedly asked you what it meant in the language because he kept on forgetting it?"
Laughing and unable to escape the younger males poking, Sungmin drops the sleeping bunny onto the floor - waking him up - and doubles over with laughter. "Okay! Okay! I'm sorry! I had a brain-fart!" He breathlessly mumbles.
Kyuhyun smirks and continues tickling the elder. (Just to tease the cute male, and because he adores Sungmin's bright smile - not that he would ever say that outloud to anyone...)
"Brains can't fart, hyung." Kyuhyun says. He chuckles when Sungmin's glares at him through the endless laughter.
With the name decided, the two continue with their unending tickling battle. Shiro watches them with large black eyes on the floor, trying hard to not get squashed.
Step 2. Feeding the Bunny
"You don't hold it like that!" Ryeowook screams, taking the baby carrot as well as the bunny away from Sungmin's deathly hands.
Blinking, the elder pouts. "What? I was just holding it for him."
Ryeowook stares, horrified, and takes a deep calming breath. "Yeah, you hold it for him hyung. You do no-"
"What's going on?" Kyuhyun interrupts, walking into the kitchen to find Ryeowook clutching the new bunny to his chest and Sungmin pouting like a kicked puppy. He blinks in surprise when Ryeowook lets out a supressed breath and hands the carrot and bunny to him and walks away.
"Make sure Sungmin doesn't choke the poor thing to death." Ryeowook mutters, walking towards his room. "I do not need another animal to take care of! I already have 3 to look after."
Kyuhyun stares at his friends fuming backside disappear behind the door before turning around towards Sungmin. "What did you do?"
Sungmin shrugs and blinks at his dongsaeng with large eyes. "I don't know... I was just feeding Shiro when Wookie suddenly yelled at me."
Shaking his head, Kyuhyun gently pets the small animal in his arms and sits him down on the kitchen table. Sungmin joins them. "I bought some sprouts, wheatgrass and more carrots for him." Kyuhyun says, watching with amusement and wonder as Shiro swiftly nibbles up the food; his chubby cheeks moving in a circular motion.
Sungmin nods happily as he leans his head on the table and watches Shiro with giddy happiness. The bunny was just so darn cute, it made Sungmin squeal just at the sight of him. Then a questioning thought hits him. "What did Ryeowook mean when he said he had 3 animals to take care of? He only has ddangkkoma and that new turtle in his room..."
Kyuhyun shrugs, more interested in amusing himself with watching Shiro eat.
Pursing his lips in thought, Sungmin ponders on Ryeowook's words before also shrugging and focusing back on the white bunny, who is busily nibbling away.
Step 3. Bathing the Bunny
"HYUNG WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Kyuhyun shouts, mortified. He stands rigid in the doorway of the bathroom, staring wildly at Sungmin, who has Shiro in his hands, dangling helplessly over a small tub of warm water.
Sungmin just blinks. "I wanted to give him a bath..." he mumbles timidly.
Kyuhyun rushes over to his hyung's side and snatches Shiro into his safe hands. He could feel the relief and gratefulness emitting silently from the shaking bunny. "Hyung, you do not give a bunny a bath! Especially not like that!"
"You don't?" Sungmin says, eyes wide. "Oops.."
Kyuhyun snorts. "Oops is right. Hyung, bunny's are like.. cats. They clean their fur themselves. And if you really had to, just get a damp cloth and wipe him." He leads Sungmin, and one frigtened Shiro, towards their room.
Sungmin ohh's and nods. "How do you know that?" He says, staring at the younger male with awe.
Kyuhyun smirks and ruffles Sungmin's hair. "I read." He chuckles when Sungmin scowls at him.
From that day on, Sungmin vows to finish reading, "How to take care of a rabbit for dummies" by the end of the week.
Step 4. Playing with the Bunny
"Stop moving around hyung!" Kyuhyun shouts, slightly annoyed. "I'm trying to take a picture!"
Sungmin sticks his tongue out at his dongsaeng and continues to play with Shiro; a small piece of pink ribbon being twirled infront of the white bunny. (The ribbon was stolen from Heebom... but they're sure that the chic cat won't miss it too much.) He giggles when the bunny hops around, attempting to grab the offending ribbon invading his space.
Kyuhyun grins, watching with amused eyes as the two cutest things he has ever seen play with each other. He focuses the camera and takes a few shots, of Shiro and Sungmin, to go into a small photobook that he and Sungmin started a while back - pictures of him, Sungmin or both of them together; memories that will last for decades.
"You look happy hyung." Kyuhyun comments, smiling warmly.
Sungmin looks up from Shiro, his smile widening. "I am happy Kyuhyun." His eyes twinkle with unspoken emotions. "Thanks."
The magnae feels an indescribable warmth spreading through his chest at that simple word. He watches Sungmin fondly as the elder resumes cooing and playing with the small bunny. For the rest of the day, a small grin was visible on Kyuhyun's lips.
Step 5. Ddangkkoma vs. Shiro vs. Heebum
"My bets on Heebum."
"Are you kidding? Shiro plays innocent... he's just like someone else we know." A punch. "Ow- and love!"
"Ddangkkoma may not be strong on the offenses, but he has a strong defense!"
"Why can't my fish be in this fight?"
"Hyung, this is not a fight. We're just getting the dorm pets to get to know each other!"
As the rambling continues, the 3 bodies of the nights focus circle each other. (In Ddangkkoma's case, stays in one spot.) Heebum stares down at the two other animals, his nose high in the air and fur puffed out. Shiro blinks slowly, eyes wide and innocent but glinting with a hint of mischief. Ddangkkoma... just takes a peek around the room, makes a weird noise, and then hides in his shell.
"No! Kkoma, don't give up like that!" Yesung begs. Ryeowook gives his roommate-slash-hyung a disapproving look. "This isn't a fight hyung. And here I thought you were against animal cruelty."
Yesung blinks rapidly, immediately hushes up and starts to cheer up a moody Ryeowook.
"Let's go Heebum! Take them down! You're the superior one, you're the winner!" Heechul urges, sounding much like a boxing coach. Hankyung and Siwon share a brief look of exasperation and shake their heads.
"Shiro looks awfully small compared to Heebum." Sungmin whispers to Kyuhyun worriedly. The younger male bites his bottom lip and nods, a sense of over-protectiveness enveloping him. So this is what mothers feel for their babies...
Then, Heebum advances on the small bunny - ignoring the turtle completely - and starts sniffing it. Shiro in turn, goes on its hind legs and also sniffs Heebum out of curiosity. The two stand still as they smell each other, Heebum then suddenly lays down on his stomach as Shiro climbs on top of him and rolls up into a ball. Ddangkkoma slowly joins them, using all his might to hurry over to his new found friends, and settles himself in-between Heebum's paws.
The Super Junior members aww and chuckle at the amusing yet adorable sight. They quietly leave, not wanting to disturb the cat, bunny and turtle's quiet nap-time.
"You can totally tell that Heebum is going to lead the group."
"Did you see how fast Ddangkkoma was crawling! That's a new record!"
"Shiro looks so cute curled up like that."
"WHY couldn't my fish be here?!"
"Think of that question very carefully Hae..."
"Let's make some pie! I'm hungry!"

"I think it was a good idea that you bought Shiro, Kyuhyun-ah." Sungmin says one day.
The younger male looks up from cleaning Shiro's cage with a grin. "Yeah... I think so too." He re-organizes everything and joins Sungmin and Shiro on the bed. Kyuhyun's grin widens when he sees Shiro nibbling cutely on a piece of lettuce on Sungmin's lap.
"He's like our baby... isn't he?" Sungmin coos, looking at Shiro and then focusing his bright eyes on Kyuhyun.
Kyuhyun fights back a blush and nods slightly, an arm wrapping around Sungmin's shoulders. His fingers play with a strand of Sungmin's hair while the other hand gently strokes the white bunny. "Yeah..." He looks at Sungmin with happy eyes.
"We're one big, happy family."

Sorry if the updates have been really slow lately. @__@ RL has been really busy for me, but hopefully, after the finals are done and with winter break coming up soon, i'll have more time to write! ^o^
