Oddly happy and full of life, Kyuhyun whistles into his shared bedroom, eyes twinkling with mirth from nothing in particular. He pauses mid stride by the door when he spots a rather moody roommate sitting on his bed, his knees up to his chest, and staring out the window towards the graying skies.

Pursing his lips, Kyuhyun moves to his side of the room and sits himself down on his desk chair. He looks from the corner of his eyes to see that the other male hasn’t even recognized, or realized, that somebody has entered the room.

He must be deep in thought.

Running a tongue on his bottom lip, Kyuhyun tilts his head to the side and turns. “Sungmin?” He calls, rather whispers.

Blinking once, escaping from his trance and thoughts, the said male turns slowly and stares blankly at the younger male. After a few seconds, acknowledgment flashes in those light brown orbs as Sungmin smiles. Kyuhyun notices how it doesn’t reach his eyes. “Hey Kyuhyun, back already?”

“I never left.” Kyuhyun states, raising an eyebrow. “I was in the living room playing games with Hyukjae.”

“Oh,” Sungmin murmurs, brows furrowing. “I thought you said you were leaving.” He looks up and shrugs, “Sorry, bad memory.”

Waving it off, Kyuhyun leans forward. “Something on your mind hyung? You seemed to be thinking pretty hard about something.” You seem pretty down about something…

Eyes glinting with unsaid secrets, Sungmin spreads his lips to speak, but seems to rethink it and hesitates. He frowns and looks at his hands and to the floor, then back at Kyuhyun. Shaking his head, finally coming to a decision, his lips form a thin smile. “Nothing. It’s nothing important, forget it.”

Unconvinced, Kyuhyun walks over and kneels in front of the gloomy male. “It is not nothing. Tell me, I’m pretty good at listening.”

“You’re a sweet kid, you know that?” Sungmin whispers, voice laced with playfulness, yet his eyes showing the opposite emotion. He runs an affectionate hand through Kyuhyun’s soft locks, hand lingering just beside the younger males ear before reluctantly sliding away.

Confused by the sudden display of warmth, Kyuhyun just smiles and places a hand on Sungmin’s knees. “You’re hurt, I can see. Something is making you worry and distressed.” He smiles, a smile that won so many hearts. “I want to help, tell me.” He looks up, in earnest, at those wide innocent eyes.

Clashing emotions and wavering thoughts flash through Sungmin’s soulful eyes. Another smile and a hand squeezing his knee, makes him trip over the edge and talk. “Hypothetically speaking, what would you do if there was someone you loved, with all your heart, yet you were helpless and unable to confess to that someone?” He murmurs, frown deepening and hand fiddling with Kyuhyun’s.

“Ah, a love problem is it?” Kyuhyun whispers. “Well, as almost anyone would say, I would just go for it. You know, ask them even if I wasn’t in the position to do so.” He shrugs and gets up, his hand still clutched by Sungmin.

“Even if that someone had a significant other?” Sungmin whispers, hand tightening around Kyuhyun’s, unable - no, unwilling - to let go.

Kyuhyun ponders at the words, staring at Sungmin’s bowed head. “Even if that person had a significant other. Because life is all about taking risks hyung.” He tilts Sungmin’s chin up to face his. “Have faith and courage in yourself. How can anyone turn down such an offer from you?” He smiles and ignores the “But I’m saying this as a hypothetical situation…” as he pats Sungmin’s shoulders, oblivious to the elders thrumming heart.

“I like you.” Sungmin murmurs, eyes glinting with sad hope.

Kyuhyun blinks, and cracks a wide grin before patting Sungmin’s back. “That’s the way!” He chirps, standing up straight. “Now, say those words confidently and with your usual charm, and nobody will be able to resist you.” He takes a step back as his cell vibrates.

“Oh, I got to go. Yesung hyung wants to meet me and other.” He looks up. “Do you want to join?”

Sungmin manages a small smile, his eyes trying hard to not betray his true feelings. “No, I think I’ll stay. I just want to have some time by myself.”

Sighing, Kyuhyun nods. “Call me if you get bored.” He says cheerfully, eyes twinkling. He turns and heads for the door.

With every step he takes, their hands slide apart. Sungmin watches with agonizing eyes as slowly; little by little, Kyuhyun’s hand slip away from his and he is left grasping nothing but air. He waits for the door to close, and for Kyuhyun’s voice, mingled with Hyukjae’s, to disappear from the apartment and out the front door.

Resuming his usual position, and blinking towards the once gray, now grayer sky, Sungmin rests his chin on his knees. “A million words would not bring you back, I know because I tried. Neither would a million tears,” He sighs and lets a lone tear roll down his colorless cheek. “I know because I cried.”

“Ryeowook, please. Just talk to me.” Yesung pleads, eyes soulless and defeated.

The other shakes his head defiantly and tries to move pass the pleading male; all the while, his heart painfully bleeding. “Get out of my way Jongwoon.” He glares at the other, the streetlight illuminating their faces from the dark night. “You shouldn’t be here. You promised.”

Yesung cringes when Ryeowook uses his formal name. “Wookie, just listen to me. I just want to talk-“

“Don’t call me that. I’m not your Wookie. Not anymore.” He hisses, eyes narrowing dangerously and tears prickling his eyes. “Get out of my way.”

“I know why you’re angry. I know why you hate me.” Yesung begs, moving and spreading his arms wide. “But please just listen to my words.” He places a sincere hand on Ryeowook’s forearm. “Please.”

Ryeowook’s shakes his head, and gently, shakes Yesung’s hand off of him. He meets the elder’s eyes with an equally broken look and sighs. “You and I are like glass, hyung.” He starts, meeting Yesung’s distressed eyes, then to the ground. “Sometimes it’s better to leave the broken shards than trying to hurt ourselves putting it back together.”

Choking back a sob, Ryeowook rushes past the shocked male and down the silent street. Yesung continues to stand there, leaning against the light post and letting regretful, broken tears stream down his cheeks.

A/N: . . . I’ve been losing my will to write lately. I’ve been trying, and trying, and trying, but every time I write I think it turns out downright horrible and it just ruins my mood and muse. I also went through some of my older fics, and wow. I’m so surprised I even had readers back then, I mean. To be completely honest, my writing sucked! I’ve improved now, hopefully, and glad for it. But even now, I see some major flaws to my writing. I guess, I’m just losing confidence to write anything nowadays. (I can see some people arguing and going to tell me that, maybe, my writing doesn’t suck. But, I’m just saying from my view, I need to improve a whole lot before I’m confident in it. But major thanks to those kind and lovely readers who support me. You know who you are ♥) I don’t know when I’m going to update again, and it may sound absolutely childish and rude of me, but until I feel like writing again, or until my muse returns, I’m not going to be updating a whole lot. (Also, school plays a big part as well…) Please, bear with me until my distraught state has… disappeared, calmed, whatever. Love all those fantastic readers, commenter’s and silent, and hope you all stay healthy. (Hope I don’t lose any readers by doing this.) ♥
