Nintendo and the Wii

So you would think that working at Nintendo would guarantee you a new system before it comes out everywhere else. For the past 20 years, that is exactly how it has been. A week early, in fact. It was one of the perks of working at Nintendo and it was the only thing that kept me sane when I worked in the warehouse, that, if I made it, I would be able to get a Wii early, and maybe even for a discount.

So it figures that when I come aboard and when I am finally in a position to get the new Nintendo system, they change the rules. Nobody will be getting a Wii early. Not even Nintendo employees.

What's worse, not only will we NOT get them early, we will be getting them LATE! Since the launch is on a sunday, and not many people will be at Nintendo on sunday, they will be sold to employees on monday, a day after the release. Not on the friday before...

To top it all off, there is no guarantee that everyone will be able to get one. One employee said that it is best to preorder the system at a real store and get some games at the Nintendo store.

It's stupid. Nobody has been told why we can't get them early, at least to my knowledge, and I don't see any reason for Reggie to tell us. It sucks. What a joke.
