So, Caleb may have had a little too much fun at the wet t-shirt contest, and may have brought Selene and Harley to Harley's apartmentCaleb seems to be more than a little surprised at how easily the alcohol affected Selene, and has one eyebrow raised just a little bit. More importantly, he is wondering, just a bit, why he is leading the way ( Read more... )

"I... hmm. I suspect it has more to do with the simple..." Caleb struggles to find a way to put this. "...lack of perception of social norms, rather than... um. What it was that you said." Caleb did not like the idea of a two-personalitied girl. Not one bit!

"Good point," Harley nodded to him.

"Selene, how do you see yourself as?"

"Ummm..." Selene pauses to think; she's never really thought of this before.

"Ah... I... I guess I'm just a orphan. And... Even if if I tried to find my parents' relatives, I... I don't think I'd fit in. I mean, I was raised with humans, but I'm not human at all... But I'm- I guess I'm not really elvish either."

She gives a faint smile.

"I guess... I guess I'm just a elven girl who's just trying to help others."

NEURAL WHIP

Caleb understands a little bit. Well, not entirely; while Selene is an orphan, that implies that at one point she had parents. Caleb has never had any parents at all. "I... um... I realize this may not be the time for this question, but."

"Um. What is 'elven'?"

"Selene is an Elf, Caleb, a type of fae-people. According the legends they live long lives and have mystical powers."

Harley turns her attention back to Selene, "who told you that kissing another person was something to be ashamed or embarrassed about?"

Selene nods in agreement with Harley. "Yes. Although, some elves- I mean, some of my people- are renown fighters."

She blushes. "W-well... I mean, in the books, the lady is always the only one getting the kisses, a-and she only kisses one man o-or if it's from more than one man, it's because the villain steals one from her by force."

"You are reading the wrong kind of books then, because either way is appropriate."

Caleb is still trying to get over the whole 'hey I'm an elf lol' thing.

"...what kind of books are those? Even the books you gave me, Harley, do not have that kind of attitude. At least if I remember correctly." He did read them. He just didn't take them seriously.

Seriously, they were bodice rippers. Was he supposed to?

And if Caleb would look closer, he might be able to spot the tips of Selene's ears poking through mussed-up hair!

"I-I don't really know," Selene confesses. "I... I mean, there was no boys my age in Candlekeep s-so I don't really know. And um, th-they were rare tomes of classical literature from several centuries a-ago."

"Boys are not the only one who have to initate kissing. I know I have kissed several people first when I liked them enough."

"Do you think that makes me a bad person? A slut?"

Caleb's initial instinct is to blurt out "NO". That would be a little bit rude.

Instead he simply says, "I do not think so."

Wibble.

"Do... do you think s-umph."

Selene is cut off by Puck guiding a bit of pancake on a fork into her mouth.

Harley leans back in her chair, "I do not consider myself so. And I do kiss guys first. I also have sexual relations with guys without being married or engaged or being in love with them. But I have never considered myself a slut."

"Nor would I ever consider you in the same context. You are a good girl, Selene. And I would never pressure you into something you are not ready for or do not feel comfortable with."

"Would you rather we all pretend that last night did not happen?"

Caleb wisely chooses to not say a word. Anything he considers saying is a bad idea, and he knows it. It would probably not do to volunteer that information right now!

Chew, chew, swallow.

"O-oh, yes!"

Well, on the bright side, at least Selene is no longer terrified of Caleb as much now. They still have a long way to go with Selene, however.
