i'm back to lj world

It's been quite a while since my last update, and it seems like this is how every entry starts.

I've been in DC for one month now and it's been absolutely amazing. There are some parts that I could really do without (such as the whining, judging, and comments on my choice of clothing) but I've met some people that I already know I'm not going to want to leave at the end of the semester. The part that sucks the most is unlike WNEC where everyone's pretty much from the New England area, here they're from all over the place from San Diego to PA to Minnesota. I've been to a bunch of the Smithsonians and class is unlike anything I've ever had before.
I'm interning at the District Court and loving it even with the boring clerical work (it's a clerk's office). I've seen some trials in family court and I know that it's what I want to do with the rest of my life.
Everyone here talks a lot about taking a year or two off before going to law school, but one semester will be enough for me. I'm going to get my bartending license either this summer or in December and that's going to be where I hopefully get some good money to put away for life in law school. It's costing me a lot of money to be here, but luckily my professor never ordered the books so I didn't have to spend money on them. When I get back to WNEC life is going to be weird, but it's a semester.
Compared to one year ago, I'm so incredibly happy. Someone once told me that if I found a boy it would make me happier, but all I needed was a change of scenery and some amazing people. My crush from WNEC is still in my head, but whatever.
I miss the WNEC kids and the girls from home, but I knew I would. I wish they could meet the amazing people here and see everything that this city has to offer.

I've also been working on my research project...and by working on it I mean Kaitlyn and I went to the library today and got books to make us feel better about being slackers on this project. Washington Semester, in the words of my RA, should be called Washington Siesta. It's a good break. There is some work, but barely any class and a lot of interesting speakers from congresspeople to someone from the Library of Congress, and more.

I hope to keep this lj updated. Leave comments if you still read it.
