this box of paper weighs about as much as me?

Jun 26, 2006 23:40

so, i've been doing important things, such as wading through piles of personal belongings in an attempt to be semi-organized before europe and the medical school frenzy. in the process, i came across a bunch of cards people had sent/given me that i hadn't scrapbooked yet. here are a few of my favorites, for various reasons and in no particular order:

birthday cards:

#1
front: "What is an ('almost '-- this word was added by a close girlfriend) Sister?"
inside: "...An ('almost') sister who's loved, and liked, and admired, and who's wished the most special of days."

You're almost my sister...so this card was perfect! Happy 20th Birthday! I love you so much! Love, X

#2
front: "All the clowns in Clowntown..."
inside: "Are tickled pink to say, they wish you barrels full of fun, on such a special day. Happy Birthday!"

Beth-Erin,
I saw this card and couldn't resist. Plus it was the only way to keep X from reading it. These past couple of moths have been so special to me. I appreicate everything you have been for me. You have opened my eyes to so many things that I never thought I would see. Have an amazing birthday, and may the next year be even better than this one. May God bless you in everything that you do.
Your brother in Christ, X

#3
front (envelope: moderately inappropriate card enclosed) front of card: photo of gorgeous card-guy  and the words "you may be another year older, but this guy doesn't care..."
inside: "he can't count that high"

(hand-written: "Terribly stereotypical and unfair assumption, I'm sure, but i thought it was kind of amusing.)
Hi Beth-Erin
....The "doctor" stamp group is far from complete, but somehow it seemed appropriate for you, so I put together what I did have along those lines. I hope you enjoy it. Have an absolutely wonderful birthday and take care of yourself.
Your Friend, X

(This card was accompanied by a hand-made book of medically related stamps from the personal collection of a close friend.)

ecard: Happy Birthday (photo of deacon)
It's almost your birthday! Are you having fun yet? Never mind, don't answer that. Well one thing's for certain, this will be a memorable 21st! When you're at the bottom of the barrel there's only one way to go, up ^^^^ so start looking up. (I had been sick for a month, was on copious amounts of tylenol+codine, and was preparing to take my calculus final on my birthday) James 5:16 says the fervant prayer of a righteous main avails much. So I'll start looking for one immediately. I know it's easy to say hang in there for one more day, but try! Remember, we love you when you're smart, and we love you when you ain't. How's that for poetry?
Love, Mom and Dad

misc cards:

#1
front: "Thank You"
inside: "For being the fluffypiggyducky!!...sorry, I ran out of other cards and this was all I had and since I don't have a car and can't get off campus..."
Love, Kerianne

#2
in a note with some graduation pictures:
LIke the tux look? And I used to think the only time I MAY wear one would be on my wedding  day. But not...It's just one more step closer to being James Bond (minus the womanizer thing, of course). I was thinking of how much fun it would be to wear one and walk around X asking people if they had seen any girl with a white dress running around. Could be a good investment...
Just another guy picture in Beth-Erin's wallet? - X

#3
front: Beth-Erin, I know it's hard, moving to a new place, making new friends. Just remember...
inside: ...every friend you ever had used to be someone you didn't know! This profundity was brought to you, with love from...
Mom
Hang in there!! (Kerianne and Dad)

wow. these people were (and most still are) amazingly close friends and wonderful people! lucky me to know them and have had their support!
