Q&A: 10-year-old 'True Blood' star Chloe Noelle

Whitney Matheson, USA TODAY

...

Today many True Blood fans are chatting about last night's death of a longtime character. (And I won't spoil it, but he/she kind of had it coming.)

The episode also marked a farewell for Chloe Noelle, the 10-year-old actress who played young werewolf Emma. Over the last three seasons, viewers saw Sam (played by Sam Trammell) become a father figure to the orphaned girl. On Sunday's episode, however, he ultimately handed her over to her grandmother, werewolf Martha (Dale Dickey).

This morning I called Chloe to talk about True Blood, her summer plans and other stuff. She was cheerful and delightful:

Me: Hi, Chloe! How are you?

Chloe: I'm good, how about you?

I'm great. You know, I'm a big fan of True Blood, and I was surprised to see Emma being taken away by her grandmother last night. Was that your last episode?

I really hope not, because I love working on True Blood, but you never know.

Are you sad that it might be over?

Yeah, I am pretty sad. I'm going to miss my friends on the set - I might not see them again. But in the storyline, I'm with someone who is related to me and is sort of the same type as me, so that's good. It's just that I really wanted (Emma) to be with Sam. I think he's better for Emma, because she knows him better.

I think you're right. Was Sam (Trammell) your favorite actor to work with on the show?

Sam or Joe (Manganiello). It's really hard to decide. Both of them are so unbelievably nice, it's ridiculous.

What's your favorite memory of being on the show?

Well, there's a scene that got cut last season where I was running away from The Authority. We were shooting all these vampires, and they were turning into piles of goo. I love that horror stuff. I got to touch some of the goo - it was so cool. It's really sticky, but it's warm.

I wonder what the goo is made of.

It's made with, like, ramen and cherry sauce. It's gross.

You really like the horror stuff? I was pretty scared by it when I was your age.

Oh, no. I love that stuff. And also, another time Sam shifted into a bunny, and I got to let it run into my lap. So we had to practice early to use the trainer, but before they even called (the animal trainer), the bunny just ran into my lap and did exactly what they needed him to do.

Oh, that's cool. Does your mom let you watch the show?

Heck no. It's so inappropriate for kids. She's like, "OK, go upstairs now. That was your scene. Bye."

So you can watch your stuff, just not anything else.

Yeah. I can watch my scenes. I have seen tiny tidbits of the show that are not inappropriate for kids. So I've kind of made up True Blood in my mind, but I doubt it's exactly like the show.

What are some of your favorite TV shows to watch?

I like the stuff that's on Cartoon Network: The Amazing World of Gumball, Regular Show, Adventure Time and Teen Titans. And Modern Family. That's a really good show. I have a friend on Modern Family, and she's totally awesome.

How long have you been acting?

I think since I was 7.

Do you think you'd like to be an actress when you grow up, or would you like to try something else?

I definitely want to be an actress when I grow up, but I would like to learn costuming and a little bit of directing, so I have other opportunities.

That sounds very smart. Who are some of your favorite actors and actresses?

Probably Will Ferrell, Ben Stiller or Steve Martin. My favorite actresses are Amy Adams, Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway.

So what else are you doing this summer?

Well, I do a weekly news segment every Tuesday (on Fox 5 San Diego). Today we're trying to get ready for it, and it's frantic! I talk about everything that's cool for kids, stuff that's cool for the summer and ways to keep kids busy. Personally, what I like to do for my summer is just lay around the house either watching TV or reading a book, swimming or playing video games.

That sounds like the perfect summer.

Yeah, it pretty much is.
