Interview with Michael McMillian AKA Steve Newlin!
At the start of the year, we resolved that 2012 would see us interview a True Blood cast member on God Hates Fangs True Blood Podcast. Well folks, it's only February, and we have already fulfilled this resolution!! Michael McMillian, AKA Rev. Steve Newlin, spoke to us for over an hour via the magic of Skype!
As well as playing one of the show's best antagonists, Michael also co-wrote the second arc of the comic books. He actually contacted us via Twitter and offered to appear on the podcast, after hearing our review of the comics. The whole thing couldn't have gone better, so we're massively grateful to him for doing this! He gave us this exclusive scoop on the future of the comic series:
“IDW is going to be launching a new ongoing True Blood monthly comic book. So they’re tossing out doing these sets of six issue series, they’re just gonna do an ongoing book, and I’m back on as series regular co-writer.
What we’re gonna do is focus on smaller story arcs, fewer characters at a time, and then we’ll do an issue where it’s just one character.”
And we also got an awesome soundbite regarding what's in store in season five of the show:
“It’s gonna be really, really good. The whole season so far has been great. It’s very vampire centered.
I think season five is gonna start paying off the promises of the first four seasons. It’s like, ok, now you know the way the world works, we’ve introduced these separate plotlines, these separate characters, and it’s really starting to come together this season in a big, big way.”
