Celebrated classical actress Fiona Shaw has signed on for a regular role in the popular HBO vampire series True Blood, according to Deadline.com. Shaw will play Marnie, a mousy storefront medium and palm reader who is taken over by the spirit of a powerful witch.

A 2003 Tony nominee for playing the title role in Medea, Shaw is currently co-starring in the Abbey Theatre’s production of John Gabriel Borkman opposite Alan Rickman and Lindsay Duncon. She won raves for playing the buried heroine Winnie in Beckett’s Happy Days at BAM. Her many recent starring roles on the London stage include the title role in Tony Kushner’s translation of Mother Courage and Her Children, Beckett’s The Waste Land and a National Theatre revival of London Assurance. Onscreen, Shaw played Aunt Petunia Dursley in the Harry Potter films and had a role in ABC’s Empire.
