I decided to buy the book after seeing the pre-air pilot but I thought the pilot was fine. I could have just done without the crazy vampire sex on TV. lol

You have not see the first episode that Best Buy was givin away free with any HBO series purchase. They tightened the episode up and it was quite wonderful.

I feel like they're trying to put too much sex into show. Like the whole Maudette thing is mentioned in the book, but the actual sex isn't described in depth like it's depicted in the pilot.

See, I don't think it's too much sex per se. But it wasn't hot sex. It was disturbing, weird looking, violent sex. DO NOT WANT.

That is true. I guess by "too much" I really just meant "more" than what was in the books. I usually don't mind changes from books in tv shows as long as it works and makes the show more interesting. But the disturbing sex seemed like a completely unnecessary addition that just made the show uncomfortable to watch at times.

I thought the pilot(not the best buy one, so a rougher version) was not bad. It was pretty decent if you compare it to pilots from other shows in a simaler genre(take the buffy pilot for example was not very good but the show turned out to be great and got better as it continued)

Also nearly every book turn movie/tv show is going to disapoint because the casting will never be perfect for everybody and nearly everybody will picture things diferantly when they read them.

I thought the pilot was interesting but in comparison to the book I think the story lost some of it's charm.. I think they definitely went over the top when it came to sexing the episode up.
