Damnit, if only my chopper weren't in the shop, then I could fly to LA and offer my organization and goodwilling skills. I got to the point about 2 years ago that I just had to let go of all this old stuff. It was like a switch I forcibly turned off in my mind, so that I could part with all of this highly nostalgic yet unuseful clutter in my apartment. Then again, moving a lot helps bring this mentality. But it's also easier to be objective when say, going through someone else's stuff.
I, too, have been thinking of winging it and living somewhere else for 6 months/ a year. I've hit emotional rock bottom last week, and though my head feels a little thawed out now, I've kinda realized: "what's to lose?" I don't have any ties anywhere, NOW is the time to do this and my life could very possibly not include Paul forever. So why not have an adventurous last few months? I'm thinking downtown Cleveland or somewhere in Chicago. Paul and I just had a very similar situation that you and Jim did a bit ago: I was saying how this is the time to move, neither of us are as settled or as happy as we expected to be in Florida, and I was casually mentioning that we could take this opportunity to live somewhere else. He kinda jokingly, half seriously said "How about Rocky River?" To which I chuckle, because I thought he was mocking me, but it turned out he was somewhat serious. Oh, who knows...
Do you have a roundtrip ticket for NC? I'm waiting to hear if I get brought aboard this film being shot in Sarasota. It's a longshot because it's a small production, but then again I know a girl on it (from my Valet job) who works closely with all the right people. I've been talking to the producer who keeps telling me she doesn't know yet if she needs me. So, of course, if I plan to drive to NC I will get the gig, whereas if I don't drive up I won't get it, because that's how employment works.
I do have a roundtrip ticket to NC but it would be easy to change. Wasn't sure when you'd be back in Florida. I don't leave until Sunday so I have some time to change it. Any idea when you'll hear for sure about the job? If you do drive up to NC to get me, you'd want to arrive Wednesday the 19th at night or Thursday morning the 20th...or Thursday afternoon. Basically I have to check out Thursday at like 11 or 12 pm. I have a queen sized bed for lodgers.
Looks like it's an 11 hour drive.
Forget about the chopper, tell your dad to pull some strings and send a private jet for you to come to LA.
Chicago or downtown Cleveland would be cool. From what I've seen on craigslist all the better living situations are in Cleveland, not Akron/Hudson. But there are like no SEO jobs in Cleveland for some reason. Can't imagine why...
