I just wanted to canoodle with everyone and let you know that I'm wishing you well. I had two lovely people make Shelter icons for me and I'm currently showing off the one
smilla02 made. Thank you so much
smilla02 and
at_midnight! Your generosity and creativity never fails to astound me. ♥
Speaking of Shelter, if you haven't seen this film yet: gooooo! Rent, buy, borrow, download, steal - whatever you have to do to see it, by all means, see it. You can thank me later. And don't come back here and tell me, "I don't get what all fuss is about" because then I'm going to worry about you. I might also get riled.
I started working 6 days a week again about 2 months ago and while it's tiring it's also made it possible to do more than worry about money when I do have a day off although this last week was kind of rough. Twice I thought I was coming down with something, scratchy throat, sneezing, the whole preproduction and then somehow I powered through it. I've also been collecting tension headaches and have adopted a lat muscle that keeps seizing up after I slept on it funny. A co-worker gave me some Vicodin which I've never used before and all I've got to say about that is, Well done, Vicodin, well done. I am so ready for a nap.
With a little nudge from someone very dear to me ::points to featured icon maker:: I also am trying to write again. I've been at a point where I couldn't stand my own voice. I would write something one day and toss it out the next. I think a lot of it had to do with being angry at myself for getting into such a mess in late 2006 and then being unable to get myself out of it quickly. It was like a daily reminder that I had really effed up. I also kept catching myself trying to write for an audience instead of simply telling myself a story which is how it usually works when it works. Anyroad, I'm going to start a word count just to keep myself accountable and invested. The two stories that are on speaking terms with me are for Shelter (ha!) and Tour of Duty (Zeke/Myron-LT).
Shelter: It Goes Unsaid
What I'm Working On: The same 654 words. I keep clowning around with POV and tense but I think I'm finally going to stick with third-person, present tense since I'm more familiar with that. It's a coda from Shaun's POV.
Total Word Count: 654
Tour of Duty: The Unforgettable Fire
What I'm Working On: A post war story that takes off from 1970 and deals with how Zeke and Myron try to make lives for themselves back home with mixed results. OMG. I dare you to ask me how much fun it is to revisit 1970 when I was in the second grade and fascinated by the hippies who talked to me like I could go out and vote for a change right then and there, horrified by the nightly news and the proud owner of a pair of go-go boots.
Total Word Count: 2,463
