[ An Endless Conversation ]

It happens in the meeting of their eyes, behind the physical events in Milliways: It is both the blink of an eye for either, and an eternity.

"I will not have him cursing at us."

Dream has been under stress. Lots of stress. And this is why he's be-clawed, more grey than white, and clenching his hands through his un-bleeding fists as Joe blames "The Endless" for "fuckin'" with Anthy.

"And what would you have me do, brother?" Desire keeps a wary eye on the elder brother -- the memory of the last time Dream spoke to himherit in this manner is still too fresh, and Desire has no wish to bleed again. "You aren't one for our games -- I didn't think you'd ask me, reconciliation or no..."

"An object lesson. Halve her share in you. Not all of it. Just half."

He caresses Desire's cheek in a parody of its occasional touches of itself, and as the fingers pull away again the claws begin to fade...a course of action.

"Just for the night."

Did Desire flinch? "... Yes. Anything."

He turns away again, and first slumps a bit, then straightens (white as snow, and fingers as un-bedecked as any could ... desire).

He doesn't apologize, not with his voice. His eyes do, briefly, before he returns to his sanctuary.

Desire has hisherits work to do.
