Hold on a sec. Maybe I'm not so much in love with the pic... I just had another look at it, and is this a kiss (like I thought) or a "deathbed" goodbye {which I hope to God it isn't, even though I'm not invested in any of the show's characters, having never seen the show}? But I still adore your icon. :-) {{Hugs}}

sadly---devastatingly, gut-wrenchingly---it is the latter, but here they are in happier times, in all their glory, just 3 short days ago. Such beautiful men:

{back, cold water bottle in tow} Oh, no! They... the show's Powers That Be ... can't possibly separate these two. Can they? Really? Arghgghghh. Why is it, I ask, that only the most devoted of lovers (and I see a lot of devotion and love going on in that pic here, correct me if I'm wrong) seem fated to a cruel separation? Is it so juvenile or shallow of me to want happy endings and for people to grow old happily together, even if only in fiction? Sigh. Still, now I *know* I have to find out more about this show and what I've been missing!

The utterly vexing thing is that the guy on the right has spent the last few eps trying to figure out his place in the life of the guy on the left (who just happens to be immortal), has just figured out what the future likely holds for them and decided "Let's go for it," and then WHAM! Death like a bolt from the blue :::cries:::

Even knowing that, I can't recommend Torchwood to you highly enough. It's a phenomenal piece of television.

Hubby gently mocked me for my tears tonight: It's only a TV show, says he... Fie on the fool! He has no clue how much these things actually matter ;-)

>>> No *kidding*! A good while back I watched a flick on Netflix instant watch and it *really* ticked me off b/c I bonded with a character, got really invested in him, only to lose him. It wasn't quite as "bolt from the blue" as your show's situation sounds. I did spot a few foreshadows of his doom, so I guess it's my own fault that I kept right on watching -- ;) -- but the longer the movie went on, I thought, maybe I'm wrong, maybe he *won't* get bumped off. Nope. They killed him...and gruesomely too. It's amazing how you can sob and be hopping mad at the same time, isn't it? :)

Stephen King did that to me in 'The Stand'. It was, I think, the first ever book where I totally lost sight of the fact I was holding fiction in my hands. This one character was so vital, and real to me in every way.

In Torchwood terms, there's a history of doing dastardly things to major characters - to a point where maybe the audience thought, well at least everyone else is "safe" now.

Guess they fooled us good!
