Post-holiday-ness

Jan 07, 2005 09:40

Well, now that I'm finished with my holiday wrap-up, and I've successfully posted pictures of Kabat and his balls (those are FLOWER balls, people), I realized that I haven't posted anything about this week!  So, there's just enough blog-fodder that I can create one last entry for the week and therefore have posted each day, Monday through Friday, and given you ample reading material.  This also means that I may stop posting for a few days as I store up additional material.  So, here's what's going on:

New Year's Resolutions:

Well, I have made a couple of resolutions, but I am not sharing them.  Something like when you wish in a wishing well - or something.

Back to Writing

Well, my plans to finish the book by Christmas were a bit overzealous, I suppose.  The holidays got in the way, along with all of the crap they bring with them, and I got almost zero writing done.  However, I did develop several ideas for new writing projects.  Ah, what a dilemma.  So, I've decided to write at least a half page per day on each project (including the prior project) until I finish the Nanowrimo novel and until I decide to focus on one of the other three projects (I say project because one of them is non-fiction.  The other two are essentially novels).  So far so good - I've got a few pages written in each one, but I've also added a good chunk of the ending to 3 nights... the Nanowrimo book.

Dead Cars, Dead Cars, whatcha gonna do?

When Meredith was heading back to Waco on Sunday, her car started lurching and whatnot, and her Check Engine light was on, so she returned to Dallas and her sister loaned her her car for the week while Mere's was in the shop.  Verdict: faulty ECM (emissions control module - the "brain" - luckily covered under warranty) and a bad cold-start regulator (some piece that controls fuel injectors in cold weather).  Price: $110.  Not that bad until last night, MY Check Engine light comes on on the way home from work.  Not kidding, and not cool.  So now I've got to take mine in tomorrow and see if it is going to rob another $100 from us or more.  Hopefully not more.  This car only needs to survive another 18 months... come on, baby, you can do it.

More Weddings

Rhett and Stacey get married this weekend.  Congrats and bravo.

I met a fan

Last night I met someone who sang to me the entire first verse of a song I had written.  He apparently listens to a burned CD of it so much that he's worn it out and needs a new one.  Now we really need a drummer (and bassist).

CD-Making

I am currently printing up a big ole batch of CDs for Mr. Russell Ehrett.  If you like comedy CDs, you should try to get one.  If you don't know how to get one, let me know and I can point you in the right direction.  The artwork is cool, too.

It's the most wonderful time of the year...

No, I don't mean Christmas.  I mean TAX-TIME.  Yup.  Time for me to start the arduous task of getting all the accounting together for a billion businesses (okay, three) and processing them.  If I seem like I hate you between now and April, I probably do.  But if you think that I really don't hate you, then most likely I am just being mean because I am frustrated with taxes because they suck and take up LOTS of time.  Whatever helps you sleep at night.

smile on.
