((Takes place not long after previous events))
Cid was showing Nix the ship under Samus Aran's supervision and trying to avoid admitting how long he'd be gone, when Scott Pilgrim returned from his errand. He was dressed for battle. His old, familiar jacket was over his shoulders, and the gunblade that Patch had bestowed upon him was... and that was odd, because now it was on his hip, in a familiar leather holster. The holster was Roland's, who had gone to complete his own story at last. The gunblade's size, however, was a strange thing, now more pistol, more dagger, than the unwieldy, phallic item that it had been.
When he got closer, the three around the ship could see that he had three small medallions on a chain around his neck. There were tears in Scott's eyes. Cerebus had gone the way of everyone who had left, passing on in some way, given to the Exodus of Patchwork Earth. One of Patch's first acts upon arriving in the nexus had been to provide a replacement for Cerebus in his own world - the mission that had brought Patchwork Earth, in fact, out into the multiverse proper - so that the aardvark could find his own destiny. And now he was going home, diminished, some part of the magic in his medallions staying here. There were so few of them left, now.
On Scott's back was a familiar bass guitar.
He dragged up something large, complex, white, and folded, like a harness. He kicked it over to Cid. "Load it up in the ship. Get everything ready to go. We need to go - right now."
"What are you ^%$#@in' talkin' about? We ain't even done a prefl--"
"While you guys were screwing around, Cid, someone blew up Eileen Galvin's apartment, and they've been sighted in the air near BPRD in Colorado."
Not far away, Akemi was PINpointing in.
"Kabuki is with them, too. If we don't go, and go now, they'll be killed."
