Last Night & Today.

Well - I had my meeting last night where we discussed taking over responsibilities as the ACS and CAC coordinators - me and my friends Darren and Jeremy - among a couple others. Was productive, and we figured out what a lot of the responsibilities are that we'll be undertaking, and started establishing a plan for the upcoming events we want to organize. Had a nice long talk with Darren afterward, too, which led to some good ideas with regards to planning stuff - so I'm excited about taking on that challenge and providing some rewarding events for the soldiers here in Korea.

Got done with all that and came downstairs... Darren had gotten stuck pulling CQ yesterday - on a Saturday - with no warning... For those not in the know, CQ is 24 hour duty, starting at 9am and going until the following 9am. It basically wrecked his whole weekend - because Saturday was work and Sunday became sleepytime - except that he kindof had to be with us at the Community Activity Center in order to do part of his new duties and be in the event that we run there. So - to keep him company, which was great fun, I sat at the CQ desk with him and we heckled the drunk people as they came in all night. :P It rocked.

We, of course, had the two idiot underage drinkers get drunk again - meaning that they're going to get Article 15's again and everyone is going to get punished and further restricted for their actions again... but - other than that part - which will pan out in it's scope of reprocussions over this coming week - it was a nice night of chitchat, laughing and making fun of random folks. ;) Enjoyed it immensely.

This morning I went to the CAC to run my D&D game - which is often really the highlight of my week. It's the thing I look forward to doing every weekend as a relaxation and such. This particular day I knew from the first 10 minutes that it was going to annoy the crap out of me... I got there around 1020 - the game wasn't supposed to start until 1100 - and it was monsoon raining outside. I kindof anticipated people not showing up, or showing up late due to the rain... and sure enough, I only had 4 of my regular players by 1100 - so I let a new guy make a character and get into the game. Between 1130 and 1200 I had 4 more of my regulars show up - pushing my party size to 8. I can handle 6 with no problem - 8 is a little too many people to keep involved - but I can usually manage... Here's my list of problems that made today simply not work.

1) Every 15 minutes someone would get up from the table and randomly wander off.
2) Every 15 minutes someone would have a random conversation with someone not involved in the game.
3) The guy on my left would not shut up no matter who else was talking or what they were talking about.
4) At any given moment I had at least 2 of my players either painting miniatures or playing with cards or not at the table or eating food - not paying attention.
5) My two favorite characters in my entire game killed themselves (and loudmouth on my left) - valiantly - in the first main scene of the game... meaning that two of my favorite players (along with loudmouth) wound up spending the rest of the session making new characters and asking questions and not paying attention.
6) One of my players who has no leadership skills decided he is going to be the new leader of the party - and essentially several other players by the way he was acting.

... I was quite annoyed.

I guess I'm getting burnt out on running my game and getting that kind of response... so - from now on, I'm asking Darren to help with running the game - which I think will be fun... and I'm going to try to play instead of running during the week - which might help... but only if whoever runs the game is good. *sigh* Problem is - I'm way too picky when it comes to roleplaying.

So... in the end - last night was fun - but today has kindof sucked... nice ending when Darren agreed to help with the game and stuff - he always brightens up my evening - but now I think it's just time for bed. I need some rest so I can get up in the morning and try to start with a fresh attitude.

Today.
Sucked.

The endmo.
