I got the job offer from
Quantisense today. Initially, it was NOT what I was hoping for as it would mean a $10K per year pay cut over my most recent base salary. The bonus and equity portions of the offer were pretty competitive, however. I pushed back. Hard. I didn't say "No" but I did let the recruiter know that they were making it tough to say "Yes."
Interestingly, today I also heard back from another opportunity for which I was being recruited-- a position in Denver with
CableLabs. I heard that the hiring manager was very interested in interviewing me and wanted to schedule something for next week. This lent to my confidence in pushing back on the above offer.
An hour or two after talking to the recruiter about
Quantisense, he called back. He'd talked to the CEO and they capitulated, bringing the offer up to the same base salary I was making here at Scripps. The bonus structure is potentially better, so that's nice. I verbally accepted and will sign off on the written offer tomorrow. I start a week from Monday.
Now to kick off the remaining steps for moving back to Atlanta!
