I was going to post a comment on colleen's latest lj, but that thing last night was so cool it deserves a second post. For those of you who didn't see (which I'm assuming is prettymuch everyone) there was an incredible halo around the moon last night. This large circle, and it didn't look like there was really a lot of cloud cover, but there was a definite circle of darker/clearer sky surrounding the moon. It was like someone took a compass and cut a hole out of the sky. We stood and stared at it and almost got run over in the freezing cold, transfixed by it. Just one of those moments, and really, it's such a subtle thing as far as works of natural art go, but at the same time, quite profound.
Holy shit it said I spelled compass right. Kick-ass. It's a sad state of affairs that I have a growing list of words that I know I can't really spell off the top of my head, and have made no effort to correct the problem. Apparently's the one that gets me most. Goddamn alphabet. If we could only go back to the system of grunts and hand gestures, my problems would all be solved.
