Day to Day make up and jewelry - none, simple, dressy or something else?

No make up, no jewelry. I used to do the Gothic thing when I was younger, but I grew out of that a long time ago. Now, I've still got a couple of body piercings (navel, eyebrow, seven ear piercings) but I just decided to take out the eyebrow one some days ago - I'm getting too old for that. And I don't get to use more than the common two ear piercings at work, anyway. I'd have to take them in and out all the time and frankly, I can't be bothered. ;) The only jewelry I have is one or two necklaces I sometimes wear at special work events, and a necklace with a labrys pendant that I occasionally put on to do recon on who's gay. ;)

Your tutorial is still deeply appreciated. Seriously. I keep a printout of it on a bathroom shelf, believe it or not. But I save it for special occasions - big work events, meetings with the boss, that kind of thing. I tried for half a year or so, but even if I hadn't been terribly sick at the time, it just wouldn't stick. I have no idea how other women do it!

In the end, I just decided to live with the fact that it makes me feel ridiculous and it's probably better to get the reputation of being a big bad butch but not feeling ridiculous. Also, turns out, while some people frown upon women who refuse to do it, a lot less clients feel invited to stare at my breasts, and a lot more of them listen to the words coming out of my mouth. That's not just the make up, obviously, it's the whole package. But still.

What is your field of study or occupational area?

Ooh, this is such a tricky question because see, I've got both. I'm working on a PhD in modern German literature, the topic of my thesis being the representation of homosexuality in literature about the Holocaust. The rest of the time, I'm a civic servant. I have a part time job at a Chamber of Commerce, where I'm a director responsible for e-business. That doesn't mean that I design our website or anything, but that I counsel companies on how to do business on the Internet; I also publish brochures, and help organize workshops. I like the publishing more than the workshops. But my contract is running out and I'm currently trying to get a scholarship so that I can write the thesis without having to work in a job at the same time.
