Why do I have the feeling that Logan and Ray might really get along well?

I was really glad that I could use Ray here to get into the whole Xavier/Jean dilemma, because I had a massive WTF reaction to that in X-Men 3. The longer you think about it, the uglier it gets. I found it so striking that Jean, in X2, seemed to have decided not to ask Xavier for help (there's a deleted scene in the first movie where she tried, but he brushed her off).

Hee. Yeah, the whole Scott/Logan/Ray triangle makes me giggle every time I think about it. I thought hard about how Ray and Logan would get along, because it could get either way. All three of them have a capacity of hating each other's guts - but ending up friends who don't take each other's shit in the end. I was amused to notice, also, how all three of them are of the leather-wearing, fast-motorcycles-loving variation, but they ( ... )

Love, love, love the details, the characterization, and the way you're weaving together these universes. This is awesomeness itself.

Yup, pretty much. I took a lot of pleasure out of the fact that I could use Ray to point that out. Xavier got away with it because all the X-Men trust him so much - but it's not a big stretch to think that there would be people such as Ray who just don't identify with his ideals, and maintain a suspicion that allows them to call him on his shit. Other than Magneto, I mean. Ray and Magneto are a combination that I really would have loved to get into, but won't have an opportunity for in this fic. It's a shame.
Again, thanks very much for the comment. It's amazing how well it all fits together, isn't it?

So, I promised myself that if I survived midterms my reward would be to finish this fic. So far, it's absolutely worth the wait! The perspective on all the characters feels true but fresh at the same time. I love all the little world-building details like Ray and Jean's etiquette for psychic conversation. I have to say I wasn't expecting Neela to track Ray down so quickly. And now I wonder if it's better or worse that she might get to talk to Ray while she's still . . . processing things. Can't wait to find out!
