One of the reasons I find the Haymitch/Finnick dynamic so intriguing is because they're such opposite thinkers. I said once to somebody else that Haymitch, much like Starbuck, lives outside the box, but is in an environment that punishes that kind of thinking. That immobilizes him. Finnick on the other hand wouldn't know what to do outside the box, but give him a firm set of rules and he'll play the game exactly like he's supposed to, and be the best at it. This is currently biting him in the ass because being mediocre in bed or looking less beautiful would really help his situation a lot. But yeah, Finnick has the example of Mags making Careers out of Four in the back of his mind here, and he's refusing to acknowledge that Twelve isn't like Four as a measure of self-defense. To be fair though, he's thinking very long term here, breaking it down into small steps. It's the way I'd advice businesses to build up their marketing at my workplace, and a very cold practical approach to take on anything to do with saving children's lives.

I'm also happy that you liked Kat because dude, she gave me such a hard time. It's gonna be so hard writing her later during her Games.
