Homecoming and all that implies

This was a weekend that I would have loved to spread over 3 weeks. I had a blast at mostly everything, but I never got to spend enough time anywhere.

Friday, after I left work and spent time with jefferytaco at the hospital, where we were checking on his grandmother AND his mother, I went to newk's surprise birthday party, then to visit dramy and liberalryan because their friend Sarah was here, and Sarah is a blast.

Oh, and of course I had to stop at a sports bar on the way from one stop to the next to watch the Rangers. I missed the first 3 innings, but I wasn't going to miss the end. I can't believe that the Rangers are going to the World Series. I never thought I'd see the day.

Because I had slept so little on Friday, I overslept a good bit of the early stuff on Saturday, but still made it to the Boulevard for the tailgate. I got to see a ton of my old Mustang Band buddies, and catching up with them is what Homecoming is all about. Which is good because, due to the electrical storms, the game got postponed by about 2.5 hours and I only got to watch (literally!) about 6 minutes of football.

After all, I had a gig that night. I played with the LLJB a Wesley Rankin foundation benefit, then the plan was to meet up with dramy and liberalryan + Sarah for about an hour then go meet up with the Moores. Unfortunately I got caught up and they got caught in traffic, so I didn't get done with my stop that was supposed to end at 11 until 1, and then didn't want to go out to another party since I had another gig on Sunday morning...

in which I was a drummer at church. Then I got to catch up with Tiffany and David, freshly back from their honeymoon, and go to play practice, then songwriting and arranging.

I did that until I collapsed last night. Today I feel refreshed, but it was a crazy weekend. I would have liked to spend more time with SMU friends one weekend and with non-SMU friends another weekend, but I did my best...

So real life began again this morning. Nose, meet grindstone...
