I love the internet. There was a time when I would have just spent $50 to have someone come and look at a problem, or I would need to own a bunch of paper books that would hopefully have my problem so I could do something simple. Now we have
http://homerepair.about.com I managed last week to break my kitchen disposal. Earlier today I was helping my brother work on tearing down a ceiling in his new house (long story) and I decided to try and be handy at home when I got here. It took me all of 30 minutes to diagnose the problem (electrical overload caused by physical jam), reset the unit, get a wrench up in there to crunch the [bone or piece of wood or whatever], clean the unit out with some liquid plumber, and flush it with water. It works!
Now I just need to figure out how to do floors and sinks...
