Last night is what I anticipate being a normal non-rehearsal night for me for the next month, except for the disappointment...
I went and waltzed at dance class for another hour. I learned another step, one that I can lead without the girl already knowing the step, and then went from there to 24 Hour fitness. MusicalAsh, Chrissy, and Mom have all asked me if I know anything about working out legs, thighs, and hips. While I am built differently than all of them, I learned a lot about that from Animal back in the day. So I grabbed the weight-lifting book and selected 2 different lower-body workout plans with no repeating exercises. Then last night I went through one of them to see where I'm sore today to see if it worked the right areas.
Yep. My thighs (inner, top, and back), calfs, and butt are sore. So that one is a good start. I'll try the other tomorrow night. Then I'll let Animal check it off and pass it out to the ladies who asked.
I'll probably post it here too just in case anyone is interested but doesn't want to ask.
The disappointment came at the end of my dance class. Shannon, my instructor that has brought me SO far in a short 6 weeks, is a vocalist and stage performer with Broadway ambitions. She's got a ton of auditions this month, and also is going on a touring cast with some part in June. So she's going to quit teaching dance. She promised me that she'd call and let me know what her plays are going to be, but otherwise I'm not going to get to see her anymore for a while. I'll get a new instructor starting next week, but I'm slightly nervous. After all, when I've danced with Iman I've not learned nearly as much. When MusicalAsh tried to teach me, I got nowhere at all. So there is clearly something that needs to be taught and a way that I learn, and not everyone with the ability to teach can teach me. Alas. The new person will hopefully be as good as Shannon was, but I'm nervous. We'll see how it works.
And in the meantime, I sure wish my legs would be un-sore so that I could do the gym thing tonight.
