Whoa....

Jun 27, 2008 03:42

So yeah... it's getting that time of year again! It's hot and miserable outside and people are getting depressed. Me, well, I get to go with my friend Liz to her "pregnancy class" where I got see a film of a birth. Luckily Liz had an emergency (her dogs ran away) and we were able to skip through the "natural birth" part of the video. Yeah... that's gotta hurt. Well hopefully, tomorrow I can begin my new list at the Cave. I'm looking forward to visiting the fine establishment. Hopefully Travis or Amber or both will be able to hang out later as well.
With the whole Liz thing... I can't wait to film the nursing staff escorting her family that she doesn't want in the room out. That's the type of thing that's going to end up on "COPS" one day. It's going to be awesome!
God I hate the summer! I can't stress how miserable it is to have all of this free time, and I have to stay inside because it is almost unbearable outside. Come on Thor, bless us with some more storms to cool our fiery temperaments. I feel like I'm going to snap! I know I'm not the only one! The only good thing about the summer is the movie lineup. Starting in May, these are the rankings of the films that I have seen.

1. Iron Man
2. Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
3. Get Smart
4. The Incredible Hulk
5. Speed Racer
6. The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
7. Kung-Fu Panda
8. The Happening

If my expectations are met with Wanted, Wall-E, Hancock, The Dark Knight, Pineapple Express, and Star Wars: The Clone Wars, this should be the new rankings:

1. Iron Man
2. Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
3. The Dark Knight
4. Star Wars: The Clone Wars
5. Wall-E
6. Get Smart
7. The Incredible Hulk
8. Wanted
9. Hancock
10. Speed Racer
11. Pineapple Express
12 The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
13. Kung-Fu Panda
14. The Happening

I'm hoping for some surprises, but I will keep you posted as the year unfolds. Who knows, maybe The Dark Knight will be disappointing and Pineapple Express is like the greatest movie ever. I don't know.

Interestingly Iron Man now tops my top-ten list of comic book superhero movies (where movies like 300 and Sin City are absent even though they are adapted from this medium, they don't contain the super heroes and are completely separate animals). That list is as follows:

1. Iron Man
2. Spider-man 2
3. X-men 2
4. Spider-man 3
5. Batman Returns
6. Incredible Hulk
7. Batman Begins
8. Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
9. Spider-Man
10. Batman

In other comic book news, I can't wait until New Ways to Die! Finally, a reason to read Amazing Spider-Man. I'm also looking forward to Ultimatum. I'm a little shaky about Jeph Loeb writing it, as I've found his work on Ultimates 3 to be a little lacking. I don't hate it as much as everyone else, but it's a huge break away from the past Ultimates series. I like his color series and his Fallen Son series, but I'm very glad that David Finch is the artist. That should at least make the series look good. I'd rather Brian Bendis be writing it, but with him doing Secret Invasion, The New Avengers, The Mighty Avengers, Ultimate Origins, and Ultimate Spider-Man, I guess they didn't want to flood the market.
Speaking of which, let me say that I have enjoyed the Secret Invasion series. It's such a B horror plot, mixed with some intrigue. I think that the pacing could be better, but I think it's building up the suspense. I will say this: I have loved the Avengers tie-ins a bit more than the actual series. I'd say that the overall series is better than World War Hulk, but I don't think it's reached Civil War or House of M status yet. I say yet because there are 5 issues still left. I can't wait to see what happens. If the pace picks up, with the addition of older characters and other plot twists, this has the potential to be an amazing read.
I'm a little ashamed to say that I've fallen out of touch with the Thunderbolts, mainly because I can't find it anywhere. Honestly, this was the best thing to come out of the Civil War and the Initiative. Green Goblin, Venom, Bullseye, Swordsman, Moonstone, Songbird, Penance, and Radioactive Man on the same team (three of these characters have been in movies, although the man under the venom suit hasn't)! Penance is quickly becoming my favorite character in the series. And the stuff they've done with Norman Osborn is amazing. There's politics, mayhem, and insanity around every corner. Classic Thunderbolts and classic villains make this a classic team. I just wish I could keep track of the last story arc, which I hear was very good. Another thing worth mentioning is the art. WOW! Mixing these guys with Spider-Man seems like a duh, it's surprising that they didn't do it sooner.
It's times like this that I wish I knew more comic book fans. I hardly ever see Adam, Ben, or Blair. Jeremiah knows a little bit, but I don't see him much either. Without friends who are into it, I just sound like I'm ranting. Honestly, my dad's read more comics than anyone I know, but he fell out of until I started collecting again. But I do have a few people online that talk. It's just not the same! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Luckily I know a lot of Heroes fans. Man I can't wait for Heroes to come back on! The stuff I've been reading indicates that this will be an amazing season. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Well, until the Juggernaut and the Hulk settle down and have a nice family together, Make Mine Marvel!
