Come Fly With Me (part 5)

Jan 03, 2011 02:31

A/N: Holy moley, readers, I can't believe you put up with me! I didn't realise there'd been such a big gap between posts on this story. Agh, I'm sorry! Part 6 will be the final instalment in this fic, I hope to get that up within the next week or so :)

This chapter is partly inspired by the fanart by mortmere (also a deviantart user), chiefly their piece Read more... )

come fly with me, john, transport series, sherlock

Why, why, why am I in chilly Seattle, in bed with a cough, and not on a lovely island like this? But it's nice to at least read about it, and our two lovely vacationers...

Eye bleach - I suspect that's like brain bleach - thus, Retcon, available through Torchwood (I'm sure Mycroft has contacts there). No need, though, since Sherlock is avoiding tasteless beach clothes - but what COLOR is his bathing suit? (What? I need something to picture...) And, yes, that little implement between the toes IS off-putting, which is why I can't wear flip-flops at ALL, it irritates me! XD

Sherlock's concern with being bored, and thinking about ANNOYING JOHN SO MUCH THAT THEY LEAVE EARLY - no, not the best idea! But John's challenge is great. And who says Sherlock needs EQUIPMENT for experiments?

All the silliness with sunscreen is fun, and VERY IMPORTANT considering the kind of skin Sherlock has...

God, the whole floating-in-the-water sequence - I hope I dream about that later, that's all I can say. Beautiful, hot, wonderfully "them" - Sherlock's fascination with gravity and floating and John is so in character.

How fortuitous he hadn't been speaking aloud! How very, very fortuitous!

This made me laugh out loud. XD

Thanks for linking to mortmere's art! Makes it easier to picture certain things...

Wow, thank you so much for your lovely response! I can completely relate to your situation of being ill - just when I got better from a cold, I seem to have come down with flu! *angsts terribly*

HOW DID YOU KNOW about Mycroft's connections within Torchwood?? *suspicious glare* I'm going to have to check their security measures - but then, if the local pizza company knows about Torchwood, I'm guessing pretty much *everyone* does! :P

If it helps with the ever-important visualisation, I imagine that Sherlock's suit is blue, while John's is green. IDEK why.

Lol, if there's anything to hate about flip-flops, it's that. I can tell you, though, in hot climates (read: consistent temperatures of 30 degrees celsius with approx 80 percent humidity - or more!), they're pretty much the best footwear ever!

Poor John, he tries to have a vaguely normal life, and it just doesn't work with Sherlock around, spreading the crazy!

I'm so glad you enjoyed all of this :D it makes me feel like spending all that time working on it *isn't* a complete waste!

Mortmere also inspired me with this piece: http://community.livejournal.com/sherlockbbc/975691.html
but because I didn't recreate it in the fic, I don't know how/whether to credit it in the A/N ... *ponders*

Thanks again for your comment!!! :D

Oh, don't worry, I grew up in Florida, temps in the 30s and 40s were common in the summer! And the spring! I don't have the heat tolerance I did then, though...

I should HOPE spending time on this isn't a waste! This is so much fun for the rest of us!

Heh, I saved both those pictures to my compie when they were first posted, I like them so much!

Dang weather. It's never the temperature you want it to be, when you want it to be :P

Time spent on fics doesn't seem to be a waste, it seems to be heaps of fun!!!
....And then I bite my nails like crazy as I post, hoping that other people will enjoy my writing - yay for quick commenters like you! :D

They're great pics! I asked Mortmere for permission to link them to this chapter aaaages ago, before I'd gotten anywhere near writing it, because the plot started developing itself around them, so heaps of credit and praise to her!!
