Now, some of you will scoff that paradise can't be a windblown, cold, rainy, barren rocky hillside, but folks....for me it is that and more.
Granite as far as the eye can see, people smiling and ruddy in the face from the wind, shaggy cattle and hardy ponies. It was a wondeful day.
I will leave most of the telling of today to the visits and the pictures, as I can't do it all justice, but allow me to give you some highlights. I saw so many stone walls I can't count them. I saw cattle and sheep. I saw the well beloved Connemara ponies. I saw castles and abbeys and rolling hills and thatched roofs. It was an amazing day. At times rainy, and then sunny at all the right moments.
I managed to kill my camera battery, I was optomistic that it would last the whole time I was here because I was primarily uninspired to photograph anything in Dublin, but with over 1100 pictures now stored on the camera, taking into account some initial rejections, I have done it in...so tomorrow when I venture out again, I will have to find a converter and adapter for these european plugs. Unlike any 220 I have ever seen. It will be worth it to charge everything up...I also bought a disposable, just in case I need it, and I still have about 30 minutes of filming time left on the video camera. I haven't used the camcorder as much as I would have thought, mostly because from a bus it is hard to get a good shot of anything. But I did manage to get some, and some is better then nothing, and on the tour today I got the best stuff yet.....so be prepared, once I have edited, it will be a masterpiece....I think:)
Dad made some great statements about food in america, and it inspired me to venture out for something new for dinner, I haven't decided what yet, but it might contain stomach or something in gaelic that I don't want to know the translation of....I am certainly going out for the full breakfast tomorrow morning before hitting the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren. Yogurt just doesn't stick the way that baked beans do, you know?
I also made my arrangments for the end of my journey. My final night here will be spent in Kilkenny. I will be leaving for Kilkenny by bus on Tuesday morning and will make it back to Dublin on Wednesday in just enough time to get to the airport, get thru security and customs and have some lunch before boarding my plane! I am so excited. I get to the see a castle! Yippy!
Can't wait to see you all, and get all this heavy shit out of my luggage! Love you all!
