first day at giant = WONDERFUL. the office itself is amazing; its in the building right across the street from grand central on the corner of 42nd/madison and its so full of light and modern looking so its WAY better than the white walls of show business weekly. my editor, ben, is ADORABLE and the rest of the editorial staff are hilarious. basically, as they were writing they were recounting horrible one night stand/party hook up stories for the three hours i was there. they were incredibly welcoming and they put me to work right away. so yeah, in the next issue of giant, my contributions (so far) are the "Top 5" lists they have scattered throughout the magazine. in this past issue the top fives included "5 creepiest movie pimps", "five songs with beverage in the title" and "five best honorary harlem globe trotters". i wrote like nine but my favorites were "five most painful places to be pierced" and "five celebrities banned for life from saturday night live". they're looking for random and pop culture trivia so it was a blast.
after i got back to bronxville i decided to stop into scarborough once and for all to confront john about my employment situation. i walked into huge hugs from bren and adele and ... john, surprisingly. he then pulled me into the kitchen and started telling me how i'm not fired, he doesnt want me to leave, and how this is just temporary, and that he wishes i could be a regular again but he had to fill my gap over the break. and i said that's all fine and good but unfortunately i need a job, so i told him i've been applying to other places and he actually looked HURT. he said he understood and that i could depend on him for a good reference. i'm sad at the idea of not working there anymore, seriously; everyone bitches and moans about their jobs, its part of the deal in HAVING a job. but i love bren and adele and caroline and tj and jen and i've gotten close with john and his family and it bums me out not to be around much anymore. also, adele got ENGAGED and eddie bought her a HUGE FUCKING ROCK OF A RING. EXPLAIN TO ME WHY EVERYONE AND THEIR MOTHER IS GETTING MARRIED! i am so happy for my wonderful friends (a la vick and eileen) who deserve to be happy and in love and all that, and i'm elated for adele too, it just feels like sooo many people are getting married! its awesome, just strange!
so yeah. i'm tired. dan is coming to visit this weekend. that is if i finish all this fucking homework before he gets here. baahhhh.
