I gotta wake up ridiculously soon to play a ridiculous show at Rutgers tomorrow. So let's talk some.
Last weekend I took a ride up to Oneonta with Oyer to mix a couple tracks Natoli, Trix and I have been working on. Really excited about that stuff. This was all pretty cool, I was treated to delicious Oneonta sandwiches, and Oyer always makes great car ride company. Not a lot of people make good long car ride company, but he's a champ. Oyer, Trix and Mouse are probably the best you can ask for in shotgun.
I've been playing a lot more guitar lately. My fingers are blistered and re-calloused up, which is awesome in the way sore muscles validate the fact you've been involved in real physical activity. I forgot how much fun it is to just sit and play, and I'm actually improving for the first time in ages.
Tonight we watched UFC 70 at Trix's. I spent the entire night talking about what an unstoppable terrifying monster Cro Cop is, and felt like an asshole when he got his shit completely rocked in a first round KO. Rampage vs. Liddell at the next one is going to be awesome though.
I bought the new Smoke or Fire record, and I have to give it a "meh". It transcends meh for a couple really great tracks, but it's still a pretty meh record.
I went to Hooters this week. The wings at Hooters make me so happy it scares me.
The two biggest assumptions/implications people make that frustrate me the most:
1) When "I REALLY want you to know how straight edge I am" kids rave on about how kids who drink only do so because it's the only way they can enjoy themselves
2) That I go to Hooters because of the titties.
I understand that, because I've made it known that to me titties are the greatest joy in life. But really, the titties are Hooters are very rarely anything to call home about, while the food is consistently heavenly. Hooters is the Michael Jordan of chicken wings.
I want to jam with Esteban so bad.
The top two things to come out of Oyer recently beginning tae kwon do and jiu jitsu training:
1) On the way to Oneonta when he told me that his approach to taking down a kid that he thought he may have had to fight a couple days before would have possibly ending in giving him Sweet Chin Music. He said this completely straight faced after telling me that Sweet Chin Music is just a simple side kick.
2) He takes a sip of a drink today on the way to Suffern.
"Mmm, creamy"
"What are you drinking?"
"Oh this? This is muscle milk."
I'm not making fun of Oyer, I am simply in love with Jiu Jitsu Oyer.
and he's picking me up in about 4 hours, so I'm going to sleep.
